Vehicle description
This auction by owner is for 1996 Tiffin Allegro build on F 350 chases with 7.5 L V8, approx. 60,350 miles (I drive it once in two weeks for few miles and run the generator to keep the house batteries charged). It’s got a gas 4 kW Onan generator, one AC unit, 4 burner stove, double sink and a microwave. Sleeps four adults and two children. One queen size bed in the bedroom; the and couch in the living area extends to another (approx. full size) bed that can fit two; the dinette can be also used as a sleeper for kids. The RV has wear and tear proportional to its age. I bought this RV a two years ago in California. The vehicle is now located in Savannah, GA. Mechanical . When I purchased the RV, I had it inspected and serviced by Patton’s Truck Repair in Fontana, CA, to be sure that the RV will do fine on the 2500-mile trip to Georgia. We made it to the east coast with no problems in four days. mostly driving 65-70 mph. I got about 7 mpg. If you drive slower, you will get a better mileage. Current mileage is less than 60,400. I have changed motor oil recently (less than 50 miles on it), checked levels of all fluids, including gear oil in the rear differential; in particular I cleaned the rear cover of the differential, checked the gasket for leaks (no leaks) and checked the level of gear oil (see pic). Car battery and 2 house batteries are two years old (installed in SEP 2017). The RV drives fine, shocks seem to be good, brakes react as expected, power steering works well. Wheels & Tires . All tires are in very good condition with no visible cracks on the sides and a lot of thread left. Tires were manufactured between week 34 and 48, 2014. These are LT 235/85R16 BF Goodrich tires inflated to the correct level of 80 psi. Five of the six tires are identical, one has a slightly different pattern (see pic). Passenger’s side front wheel cover in not attached – missing a screw. Both front wheel covers are old and beaten up. Generator . The Onan 4kW generator has less than 430 total hours of operation. The generator runs on gas. (It will not start unless you have at least ¼ of gas tank full; this is because the generator gets fuel from the same tank as does the motor, and so it prevents the generator from using up all the gas). I changed the oil in the generator a week ago. Roof . Roof seems to have been resealed recently (see the pic). The vehicle is stored in a covered place, but it has been through some heavy rain and I didn’t notice any water leaking inside. Appliances . The roof mounted A/C unit, the shower, the toilet, the microwave, the stove and the water pump all work fine. The propane/electric refrigerator probably needs a freon recharge. In my opinion, it’s better to get rid of it and install a newer more efficient refrigerator. The type of refrigerator that is currently in the RV is notoriously inefficient and does not cool to very low temperatures. The TV is old style and works. Interior . The motor is in the front close to the driver - like in the old timer buses and so the vehicle is noisier than newer RV’s with motor in the back. Dashboard A/C is not working. All interior lights work. The carpet is still covered by the plastic wrap from the dealership (we never took it off) so it should be clean. (see pics). Fire extinguisher is fully charged and mounted inside the vehicle. The interior of the vehicle is clean and in reasonable shape for the age of the RV. I will now focus on the bad stuff. The upholstery on the reclining chair behind the passenger’s seat looks old (but not torn) and is not mounted, which makes it easier to throw it away in case you don’t want it. The two captain chairs in the front area are no lookers and would not mind some upholstery updating Wall paper is slightly coming off in few places (easy fix). One mirror on one of the small cabinets has cracks on it (see pic). Exterior . The lift gate that covers the generator is missing. Instead, there is a rectangular piece of metal screwed by five screws. I have had no problem accessing the generator for maintenance. Take just a minute to unscrew the screws. The exterior has many small scratches and blemishes due to the age of the vehicle, so cosmetically it’s far from perfect. All lights, signal lights, emergency lights work. Windshield has an old small barely visible rock chip in the lower mid-section (about 8 in from the lower edge of the glass) that has been repaired and never developed into a crack. Windshield vipers work. Blades are one year old. Spare wheel is mounted on the back of the RV. The bottom of the car has almost no rust. It was a CA vehicle for most of its life. Motor hood does not stay up by itself – must be held up by, say, a Y shaped rod. Reason for selling . We are planning to move overseas within the next 10 months. This motohome is ready to hit the road and, except the refrigerator, everything else is working. It is mechanically sound. The RV is insured and has current tags and is started and driven few miles at least once in two weeks.
