My wife and I bought this RV in 2011 used it multiple times per year until we had a baby. Our kid is 2 years old now, and we have not used it enough to justify keeping it. We chose this camper because of the quality that Airstream is known for and have made repairs as needed with attention to quality.
I just un-winterized it and fired everything up for the 2018 season with no issues:
Replaced both batteries ($300) Put $65 worth of gasoline in it Turned on each a/c (one was replaced in 2015) Turned on the water heater Turned on water pump Turned on the furnace Turned on and checked the refrigerator and freezer Operated the microwave and gas stove Here are the things that I have done to it since I bought it: I replaced the tires a few years ago. They are still in great shape and have lots of life. (See pics) Added a trailer brake controller Replaced the rear air conditioner (There are two roof units. Since it is a 30 amp motorhome, only one can run at a time- there is switch in the bedroom to switch back and forth) Adjusted the air suspension in the front Installed a new alternator Replaced all of the belts and spark plugs Replaced the dash air compressor Replaced all of the old upholstery with new vinyl for easy cleaning Replaced all of the window treatments, front curtain, and bed headboard upholstery Replaced the carpet in the front Installed a new mattress with memory foam Installed Eternabond on the front and back roof joints Added a stainless steel removable table on the large awning side of the camper (see pics) Repaired weak spots on the large awning with Eternabond Here are some known issues: The step motor does not operate. I manually operate the steps There are some light bulbs that need to be changed. I am pretty sure the light in the bedroom needs a new ballast. The dash air conditioner has a new compressor, but there is a leak somewhere and it needs to be recharged. This has been a non-issue as I use the overhead air conditioner when I travel so my wife and daughter stay nice and cool :) This is a 23 year old camper, and the outside shows normal wear and tear. It looks great 10-15" away, but when walking close to the camper, one would notice that the stickers have chips in them and that the clear coat has worn off. If I were to keep this camper, I would be installing ZEP floor polish on the outside to restore the clear coat, but it has served me just fine without.
The previous owner replaced the 3rd battery compartment with an additional air intake for the motor- this was a welcome change in my book. I have pulled several different cars with this camper and it maintained at a good engine temp. The easiest to pull was my 2005 Honda Civic Coupe - I couldn"t even tell it was back there. The largest that I pulled was a Chrysler Concorde sedan. The camper has lots of power with it"s 454 TBI, but the Concorde may have been a bit much :)
We are bittersweet about putting this up for sale, but someone could enjoy this much more than we have been able to recently. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. I can also provide any further photos upon request.
