Grassroots Motorsports is selling its project VW Fox, as well as everything else we think you"ll need to go racing.This auction is for the car including currently installed Nine Lives Racing wings and safety gear, as well as an extensive spares package and a VW Golf GTI parts car that is believed to have a healthy and correct engine for the Fox. The Fox passed both 24 Hours of Lemons and ChampCar Endurance series tech inspection with no issues in 2020. All safety gear is current.

The Fox currently has a rod knock and will not start. Before you race this car, you will need to replace or rebuild its engine. It needs a new starter, too, but one is included in the spares package.
No title is available for either car. The Fox will be sold on a bill of sale only. It might not even be a 1993; we"re unsure of the car"s exact year.
The Fox has 16v Scirocco front calipers and rotors with Hawk Blue pads and braided lines. Front suspension uses custom Bilstein coil-overs in front with adjustable camber plates. The rear suspension features Bilsteins meant for a Corrado with a custom rear sway bar.
The car is currently powered by a blown 1992 Jetta 1.8-liter engine with a Techtonics tuning cam and chip. The exhaust system is from Techtonics tuning, and uses an Audi 80 manifold and downpipe. On a Dynojet chassis dyno, the Fox made 97 horsepower and 103 ft-lbs. of torque at the wheels. Most of the car"s wiring harness is from that 1992 Jetta.
The wings are from Nine Lives Racing. The rear is cobbled together from scraps, while the front wing is meant for a Mazda Miata.
The car is currently sitting on a set of Konig Dial-Ins wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R tires that are four years old. They"ll probably be fine for a test day, but you should buy fresh tires before you go racing.
The Fox looks great. . for a Lemons car. Expect lots of floor jack scars underneath and racing scars on top. Every panel has body filler, and most have been crashed into at one point or another. That said, it"s mostly shiny and photographs well. A custom-made Covercraft car cover that fits over the car with its wings is also included.
Below is the list of spares we brought with us to the track, and everything listed is included in this sale in the quantities noted. It should be fairly accurate, but double-check the bins" contents before your first race. We haven"t found the spare front hubs yet, so assume they aren"t included in the sale and be pleasantly surprised if they"re with the car when you pick it up.
In addition to this list, the sale includes five spare 14x6" wheels/tires, two five-speed transmissions (both need to be rebuilt), a few bins of assorted parts, a spare front subframe, a spare gas tank, and the Golf parts car that"s full of miscellaneous Volkswagen parts.
One of the included transmissions is a 9Q from a diesel VW Quantum, which is the holy grail of performance Fox transmissions.
Bottom line: If it"s in the pictures and looks like a VW part, it"s included.
The parts car is a complete unknown, and could actually have a blown engine or explode when touched. It"s also missing its windshield now (what can we say, we needed one. .). We think it has a good engine, but won"t make any promises. No, you can"t save it: It"s too rusty.
We"re happy to work with your shipper and can store both cars for a few weeks without issue.There"s a dumpster in our parking lot (and a scrap yard less than a mile away) if you decide you don"t want any of the included parts. Delivery of one car to the 24 Hours of Lemons event at Sebring in May can be arranged if you"re willing to cover our gas.
The cars are located in Holly Hill, FL, about 10 minutes from Daytona International Speedway. Our office is currently closed to the public, so interested bidders can arrange to see the car by appointment only. Shoot us a message if you want to look at the car in person.
