1993 American Eagle 38’ with 8.3 Cummins diesel, and Allison MD3060 5spd transmission. This does not have a slide out. It cruises no problem 70mph. This is far from a perfect RV and needs TLC and a bit more. The Spartan chassis, steel structure and roof, engine, and transmission make this one of the best built and solid units of it’s day. I have personally put about 6 00 miles on this over the last 2 years, actual mileage unknown, estimated at 110,000 but has not been started since May 2020. The batteries are dead and think there is an issue with the battery cables or possibly the starter, did not want to jump but maybe because jump vehicle did not have enough power, this is not a small engine. But in the years I have owned it, once starter turns it fires up smooth immediately , never had an issue starting or driving it until last few months and I am not in Florida anymore .
The story, I bought this several years ago to travel between South Florida (where it is now) and the NC mountains to a family cabin. Needed this as we have a very large Great Dane who does not fit in vehicles with our other dogs and kids, an RV was the only option so I looked for one needing updates but had the best chassis, engine, transmission combo I could find. American Eagle was it. My thought was even if unit was in perfect condition, it would be 1993 décor and would remodel it anyway. So this was perfect. Mechanically I replaced the radiator, associated parts, replaced all fluids and drove it 100 miles home. I kept it at home, so I began remodeling it, but drove it every few weeks. I started with roof which is all new, then interior.
In August 2020 we decided to move to Texas, this would not fit at new house and getting to NC was not a reality from Texas, so it stayed in storage in Parkland, FL. It is still there now. I planned on flying back and getting out here to storage, but with Covid I never got back to Florida, so it sat.
The main issue now is the batteries (can jump), possibly the battery cables or the starter. Someone tried to jump it a few months ago but either did not have the CCA to start it or cables or starter, it only bumped the starter. Maybe a hammer is all it needs. This is the highly desired mechanical 8.3 Diesel, so once the starter kicks it over, it will run so long as there is fuel and air. Turn the key off and it still runs!
This is in the middle of renovation; floors are stripped and ready for you to complete. The main work I did which was lots more than I thought was replace the entire roof, it has all new roof from RevPro . Side transition moldings also replaced. My suggestion is if you can do the work, it will be a deal, if you are going to pay someone $75 to $150 per hour to finish, you need another unit. Me, I can do the work and was happy, just can’t now. The good - Drives very easily, smooth, not like gas units. It is like a bus! - Excellent mechanical 8.3 Cummins that runs GREAT. - Excellent Allison MD3060 transmission, shifts perfectly - Spartan chassis, one of the strongest and best. - It’s a American Eagle, top of the line back then and even today. A new American Eagle sells for $400k to $600k. - 22.5” Alcoa wheels, tires decent condition without excessive dry rot, there is a spare in the storage area - Full size queen bed, both AC units work (one ac unit cover is off from cleaning), full size jack knife couch, 3 captain chairs , nice size kitchen, working microwave and refrigerator - Excellent storage in and out. The needs attention areas Flooring install, paint walls, install exhaust fan in roof (already have), wood paneling on bedroom walls, closet setup (was a bunk), toilet install (need a new one), seat covers, cleaning, generator radiator hose adapter replacement and inspect (have not run in over 1 year), electric generator motor that extends generator in and out from front fix, entry door steps fixed, couch cover needed. Windshield is cracked. I estimated this to be about $2,500 in material if all bought new. Needs a new engine stop solenoid, there is one in battery compartment, I never installed, I just turned it off at engine manually.
Clearly, this is a mechanic special where the mechanic is good RV stuff. Trying to be clear. Overall, this is a solid unit, but needs work to make it camp ready , see pictures . If you are handy and have the space for it this is a great deal. Have seen several about this year and model sell for the $17k to $25k mark and all had the old original interior that needed updating anyway. This one will sell for substantially less, and then you get it the way you want it.
Viewing of the RV. It is currently in storage in Parkland, FL on Loxahatchee Rd all the way west. Viewings must be coordinated with me, no viewings without appointment, storage does not allow unscheduled visits and they are pretty good at that. But Saturday 2/6 is good, during the week ok too, but they close at 6pm.
I hate to sell this, but I just can’t get there and no room here. I have a clean Florida title at my brother’s house in Pembroke Pines, FL. It is signed and ready. You will get a bill of sale from him signed by me along with the signed title. Deposit within 48 hours of end of auction, rest in cash only to my brother. Possible he can meet you there. The RV MUST be moved off the storage lot no later than Saturday, February 27 th . If it is still there after this date, you are responsible for the monthly storage fee of $337.05. I have paid my last month of storage!
Send me a message with your phone number, I can call you with any questions. I have lots of pictures and several videos.
Happy bidding, bid to win. Oh, if you have no history on eBay, please just don’t bid as I will delete it. This is a straight up no reserve auction, will not end it early, no funny business.
