1992 Mack RD 688 S tandem axle dump truck. Pre ECM Mack EM7 engine, 8 speed Rockwell transmission. GVWR of 58,000. Can"t overload this truck. Weighs about 24,000 empty and you can only get about 13-14 tons on it. Dump bed is 14 foot. Rounded debris bottom. Steel bed. Top hinged rear gate. Air cylinders to raise rear gate to dump demolition debris. A pretty good truck for it"s age. Newer Bostrom air ride driver seat, new CB, new stereo and speakers, new Mountain Tarp electric tarp (has football sized hole in center of tarp), new rear gate air cylinders, new turbo, new heater fan motor, good upkeep. Truck was bought by our company about two years ago from dealer in Georgia for a large demolition contract. We hauled about a year with the truck 8-10 hours a day with minimal problems. Maintenance kept up on it. Doesn"t smoke. Does use a little oil but most old Macks do. Decent tires. Spent almost $2000 on new tarp system a couple years ago and over $2000 to get new air cylinders for rear tailgate. Hours show about 2500 and mileage shows about 550000 but both are not accurate. Tach and speedometer cables both not working. Engine has been changed by prior owner we think to a newer engine so mileage is unknown. Come look at truck and drive it. It isn"t a cream puff, but not a bad old truck if you are looking for a good worker. No rust on body or bed. Cab could use some paint. Air horn bugles missing, non working AC, rear glass is cracked.
