1992 FORD F700 "BULLITT MUSTANG TRIBUTE " Dump Truck 24,800 ORIGINAL MILES
or as I call It "THE BULLITT DUMP TRUCK"
So here is the story behind this truck: Purchased in 2018 to do several tasks, 1st tow a Mini Excavator and trailer est. 10,000 lbs. total at 5300 Feet Elevation. Also be able to do double duty and tow a Caterpillar 426B 4X4 Closed cab Backhoe and 20 ton trailer est. 25,000 Lb. also @ 5300" Elevation in Arizona mountains. This truck started out life in the US Army and therefore had A LOT going for it for me. 26,500 Lb. GVWR with Air Brakes, The Cat is on an air brake trailer, the Mini Ex is on a 10,000 lb. electric brake trailer. I wanted one of our two dump truck to be able to do both. Therefore I embarked on my first ever Dump Truck Restoration project. When it arrived I noticed this dump truck Body Almost Perfectly Straight (one minor flaw on hood, minor front bumper and tail gate dings) & had NEVER Had a rock in the Heil Dump Box. . NOT ONE DENT or DING! SEE DUMP BOX PHOTOS After 30 Years Selling Used Super Low Mileage Government Commercial Trucks this was a first and in addition NO RUST ANYWHERE. The truck came with what was left of the OD Green US Army Paint WOW Was it UGLY. . What to do in GREEN that is Cool?
1968 Bullitt Mustang from the Movie BULLITT is Highland Green and there it started.Over the past year I have gone thru a long process and would like to keep this truck, However have run low on cash and therefore will sell it but Don"t really have to. The Cost was high but Try restoring A Dump Truck. Or Shop New ones With OVER 26,001 GVWR AND AIR BRAKES & CUMMINS Diesel / Allision Automatic Transmissions they are OVER $130,000.00 plus Taxes (Sales Tax Plus 12.2 % F.E.T. Tax) This will make a new one in the $150,000.00 PLUS Out The Door Range And you cannot PUMP UP THE Horse Power Like you can with This Truck In Order to Get a New Medium Duty Single axle Dump Comparable Including Cummins, Allison Automatic, Air Brakes etc. You have to buy either Mack, Frieghtliner, Peterbilt, or Kenworth. Ford NO Longer Offers a Cummins Diesel Period.
Work Done so far: Truck had no body work done or needed, NO Dents, Bondo or other like body work, left the tailgate as it was except sandblasting and repaint. The cab was hand sanded, as was the dump box. Then the owner of the national OEM Paint Company came to Phoenix and heard about the project going on in his shop. He told the body guys to take the truck out and Sandblast the box and frame again! WOW I was blown away. Then They prepped and repainted the truck with Sherwin Williams top tier commercial Primer Sealers & Paint that they used on all McNelius Cement Mixer Bodies they paint Nationally. They Even Sandblaster the underside of the dump bed and painted that high gloss black to match the frame, wheels, fuel tanks, battery box etc. Once the body was done I had the grill repaired @ a Specialty Plastics CO & repainted. The Ford Blue Oval removed and a oval CNC machined to go behind the custom made Aluminum CNC BULLITT emblem I also had manufactured reinstalled all with all new hardware. Then I ordered Custom BULLITT Mud Flaps with lettering made of reflective material so @ Night it shows up like Crazy See Pix. Also needed a new flap hanger built and installed. Next this truck had a LOT of electrical Gremlins. I took it to WW Williams Detroit Diesel Allison in Phoenix AZ and they spent months on it there. First Completely Replacing the Air Conditioning Compressor, condenser, accumulator and bad hoses YES it has Factory A/C. Then Cut out the wiring harness from the firewall to the rear of the truck and after ordering 2 harnesses that came up short built a complete wiring harness. All Light bulbs where replaced Regardless working or NOT. Rear Marker lights all new LED"s. Williams then serviced all fluids including engine and transmission, as well and differential and filters. Hydraulic valve (frame mounted) for dump lift has also been overhauled as it had a minor leak. Then I took all 6 wheels off and had a Powder Coat Shop Sandblast them and two stage Powder Coat gloss black and clear coat over the black. Now it was ready for 6 new Continental Grade A Radial Tires (I learned there are 3 grades of commercial tires and if you want them balanced pay for the best). These tires are manufactured with a diamond grove that repels rocks see Pix. This truck came with 2 font bumpers in very good shape (not Perfect but nice) as well as 2 rear tailgates. Both of which are also very good (straight and seal completely around the rear box opening as a new one) a few minor dings I felt were not worth $2,000.00 each additional to straighten and bondo. Both extra bumper and tail gate are painted and included
Why Do all above to this truck? HERE IS WHY: This truck has 24,800 ORIGINAL MILES ! Cummins 5.9L 12 Valve Turbo Diesel They Are ICONIC H.P. Can go as high as you can afford! The Transmission is NOT the usual Allison "545" automatic behind a 5.9L BUT THE MUCH LARGER "653 5 speed automatic" these are only spec"d behind the Cummins 8.3L or larger motors, in civilian trucks, UNLESS you are the US ARMY! Air Brakes for hauling air brake trailer, and Added Electric Brake Controller (see dash pix) for electric Dual 50 Gallon Fuel Tanks Yes 100 gallon capacity Power Steering Added a Rear Camera to make hooking up Trailers a snap New Safelite OEM Windshield, and new wipers All brakes are like new 99% Est. Air Ride Seat for the driver Passenger seat std.
Buy this truck with the stock drive train OR I have a High Performance Diesel Shop in Mesa AZ able to add 500-600 H.P. for additional $10,000.00 (my preference). So in short after 30 years selling trucks I stumbled onto this diamond in the rough and if it doesn"t sell for the stated price well I"m going to keep it myself. This project was not for the faint of heart or thrifty
Please if this truck seems too much in your mind: Appreciate my overzealous drive to do something special and keep negative opinions to yourself. Look at all the old cars people put years of work and six figures into financially just to sit in a garage and MAYBE go for a spin a few hundred miles per year. Yes working this truck will remove the glow in time BUT that would happen with a Brand New one with similar options that will cost over $150,000.00, I don"t know if that makes more sense except the dealers offer financing. I can"t you need to pay and play. I can tell you that all the places that this truck has been even here in Phoenix AZ home of a huge supply of frame off Rust Free Classic and Muscle Cars it has created a big Stir! People LOVE THIS TRUCK!
