Vehicle description
This 34-foot 1990 Airstream Excella1000 is offered for sale in “as found” condition. It is part of asmall estate being sold for an overseas heir. The photographsincluded with this listing provide an accurate representation of this30-year-old travel trailer"s condition, but note the following. Where the condition of a component islisted as “unknown,” a prospective purchaser requiring furtherdetails will need to view the trailer personally. The exterior of this Airstream appearsto be in very good condition, as depicted in photographs. There isthe usual UV deterioration of the aluminum skin"s clearcoat on theroof and upper sides, but there are no appreciable dents or largescratches. The window awnings appear undamaged and even unfaded, although the long narrow awning on the left side has at least oneperforation that appears mendable. The primary (large right-side)awning appears functionally intact but has not been unfurled, so itscondition is unknown. The trailer was recently towed 600miles via Interstate and secondary roads. All six tires appear to bein sound condition, and show no sign of leakage after being parkedfor six weeks during estate probate. There is a spare tire in placeat the front underside of the trailer, but its condition is unknown. The vehicle electrical link is a standard 7-blade connection thatlooks good, but the functionality of the wiring (brakes, directionals, markers) is unknown. The windows appear to be operable; thetinted stone shields at the front are intact. The entrance/exit stepworks. The twin exterior battery doors are lockable, but one isbroken above the hinges. The original Excella propane-tank hard coverand two older propane tanks, one empty and one partially full, areincluded, as is an Airstream curved-wall spice rack. Axles, suspension, and wheel bearingshave not been inspected by a mechanic so their condition is unknown. The chassis/frame has not been inspected so its condition is unknown. The interior of this Airstream is nothabitable in its current condition. The owner had pets and was acigarette smoker, and mouse feces was vacuumed from numerous nooksand crannies. Although drawers, cabinets, and closets may becleanable and restorable, the trailer"s future would probably best berealized after a complete gutting, reflooring, repaneling, andrefurnishing – although it could serve as a storage unit or huntingcamp. (The seller, were he to undertake the restoration, wouldapproach the project as an in-place guest/rental accommodation ortiny house creatively furnished.) A stove fire damaged approximately12 square feet of kitchen wall (interior only); the refrigeratorshould be considered unusable; the bathroom fixtures are in poorcondition; the water heater appears to have been leaking for sometime and is no doubt dumpster bound. The stove and LPG space heaterhave been removed; a microwave oven remains but its condition isunknown. The original OSB subfloor is exposedthroughout except where it was covered with wood flooring at theentrance and kitchen/dining area, and where carpeting remains undercabinets and bed. There is a ~two-square-foot hole at the trailer"sfront exposing a corroded portion of the aluminum under-pan, and asoft (unsafe) portion of subfloor in the bedroom (see photos). Theroof appears to be intact but the shower-fan vent lacks a rain cap(since it is over the shower, however, any water that comes in fallsinto the tub). Although roof-pass-through sealant condition isunknown, there are no visible interior indications of roof leakage. This 1990 Airstream Excella 1000 may beseen by appointment in Silver City, New Mexico, or it may bepurchased remotely as described and towed within seven days to itsnew home. The preceding descriptions and listing images are objectiveand accurate, but may not be all-inclusive. Additional photographs are available on request. The trailer is advertisedonline and locally, and may be removed from “available” status atany time. Thank you.
