Vehicle description
This listing is for a really nice 31 foot 1990 Winnebago Chieftain Class A motorhome (Model 31 RQ). We bought this RV to use in our business almost three years ago but never used it because the project we got it for keeps being delayed. We think it’s silly to have such a nice unit just sit like it has for another year or two when it ought to be out there being put to good use by someone. So here it is, ready to go, at a great price. The layout is twin beds in back, then bath and tub/shower area/restroom (with Thetford toilet), then galley and kitchen table/booth, then living room with couch/chairs, then front driver and passenger Captain’s chairs. The kitchen table/booth and couch both convert into double beds, so together with the two beds in back can sleep up to six people comfortably. There is a built in vacuum cleaner (really nice feature) and big closet, with oak cabinets and gobs of storage all over the place. There are shades and blinds for the windows. The drive train is a Ford 460 EFI V8 (gas) and four speed (overdrive) automatic transmission in a Ford F350 chassis. Mileage is 94,594, only 240 of which we have put on it since we bought it. The engine pulls strong and runs smooth. Title is clear. No liens. The RV has auto air conditioning up front, and power steering and brakes. The brakes had just been newly redone when we got it. We replaced the engine battery and one of the two coach storage (deep cycle) batteries with new ones. This RV has the factory trailer towing package and spare tire, also ladder to access roof is in back. The generator is the big Onan Emerald III 6.5 KW unit. There are two Coleman roof mounted air conditioning units (one front, one back). It also has gas furnace coach heat. Noteworthy capacities: 75 gallon gasoline fuel tank (which both main engine and generator run off of); 47 gallons of fresh water; 80 pounds of LP gas; 6 gallon water heater. The RV has hydraulic leveling jacks with controls right under the driver’s seat, and a separate driver’s door. Outside the coach side door is a Kwikee electric step. The coach side door also has a screen door. The kitchen/galley includes a new Norcold two way AC/DC Refrigerator/Freezer, 4 burner gas range, microwave with convection, stainless steel sink, running water (water pump), and the necessary kitchen cabinets and drawers. There is an overhead vent and a skylight; the vent is in the bathroom and has a fan. There is also a power converter, an AM-FM radio, a CB radio, and a video control center for the small built in color TV and a VCR/DVD player. There are rolled up awnings which deploy out for the side windows, and a big one which deploys out over the coach side door and outside table/booth area. Basically, everything on this unit is functional and the RV runs and drives good. It starts easily and was obviously well cared for mechanically before we got it. The interior is quite nice for an older unit and for us was just fine (see photos; you may want to add covers or new upholstery to make it perfect). As for the exterior, it’s a 1990, of course, and the exterior is a little faded (see photos) and you can tell it’s not new if you get up close and examine it carefully. But new RVs in this class cost north of $100,000, as we all know, with the beauty of this one being that it’s got all the features that make an RV great but without depleting the bank account or the kid’s college fund, or costing a mint to own and insure. In short, if you’re looking for a really nice well-equipped budget RV, here it is. This IS a previously owned and used RV. For what its worth, here’s our “punch list” of stuff we have noticed that we planned to fix before using the RV on our big (for us) business project (the one that is still delayed): Replace latch for external storage locker Replace crank for TV antenna from Winegard Co. Add a latch for the coach entry door (to hold it open) Have the electric step motor checked out Get a new turn signal assembly Replace the intermittent windshield wiper/washer switch Fix cracks in the front windshield Driver side window slips and needs adjusted Blind in bedroom needs repair We would put new tires on Auto AC air duct is directed to defroster vents rather than through the main vents (system could use some more refrigerant to be really cold) Alignment and shocks checked out when new tires are put on Clean the vent tube on the 6.5 KW Onan generator (which runs great) We have virtually every owners manual that came with the RV, including for the engine and coach. The RV is in Grants, NM, and can be picked up there. Don’t hesitate to let me know if you have questions or need additional info. Thanks for looking, and I hope everyone finds the RV they’re looking for.
