“I wish the photographer had put the engine cover on and replaced the carburetor cover before shooting the pictures. Try to look past the mess. This 34 foot Dolphin hasn't been driven for 11 years. The engine sounds perfect but needs the soft parts replaced in the carburetor which have deteriorated from old fuel. Should not be driven until the carb has been cleaned and updated with new soft parts. The generator's carburetor probably also needs the same R & R. Or, don't do any repairs, rent a tow bar and pull it to your driveway or your back yard or your recreational lot and you could have a summer home or overflow for the family for as little as $1000 depending on the final auction bid. All it would need is a good scrub inside and out.”

On Mar-27-20 at 15:01:20 PDT, seller added the following information: Questions & Answers: Soft parts in the generator carb I understand but the engine is fuel injected and no soft parts inside it , plus the 7.5 is a ford engine not Chevy? - I had a mechanic assess the situation and he told me both of those things you"re questioning. I have no idea other than what he said. I thought he would be the best source for that information but apparently you are far more qualified. I can"t change the ad but I can put the correct answers in the q&a after I research online to confirm your knowledge. Thanks for telling me. After further research, I"ve found that the Dolphin 3400 could have one of two different engines, either the GMC/Chevy 454 CID V8 7.4L or John Deere 460 CID V8 7.5L (which is a Ford engine).
As for the carburetor question, is it a carburetor or a throttle body injector? Here is the difference: A throttle body is basically a pipe with a butterfly valve in it (the throttle). A carburetor also contains a pipe with the butterfly valve, but it also has a whole bunch of other stuff for regulating and metering the fuel.
Throttle bodies are used when the engine receives its fuel using fuel injection - essentially the throttle body just regulates the airflow into the inlet manifold. Fuel itself will be injected either directly into the cylinder or into the inlet manifold.
A throttle body usually contains a throttle position sensor which tells the ECU what the driver demand is. The actual airflow resulting is usually also measured - for example, if demand is high but airflow low, the ECU can enrich the mixture momentarily to start getting the engine power up to meet the demand.
If there are any seals and gaskets in the carburetor, they would need to be replaced. My guess is that any carburetors need to be overhauled because the same fuel might have been in there for years, and because fuel changes/degrades over time, it must be removed manually. On Mar-27-20 at 15:20:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Description correction - the engine is a Ford/John Deere V8 7.5L. On Mar-29-20 at 00:09:17 PDT, seller added the following information: Question - Is your motorhome running? Answer - I sent a mechanic to check the present condition of the motorhome mechanics. He sent a video of the engine running which I still have. He said it sounded good but needs the carburetor overhauled before trying to drive it. One time 25 years ago my wife, who isn"t a mechanic more than the average female, overhauled our carburetor on the kitchen table. It"s a step by step process and you buy a rebuild kit. She"s a puzzle solver so she tries all kinds of puzzles. She overhauled the breaks at about the same time. You could check prices with mechanics if you"re so inclined.
