Vehicle description

Rare chance to own a unique piece of fire apparatus or reuse as an extremely reliable pre-emissions road tractor. This is a 1988 Ford LT9000 with 205,000 original miles, Fuller 13spd. transmission, Eaton 38k rears on Hendrickson, 4.33 ratio, 12k steer, air ride suspension on the cab. Truck was bought new by California Division of Forestry and stationed its 30 year career at Ishi Conservation Camp not far from the horrible Paradise fire of 2018. It operated under the CalFire number of 2540. This truck pulled a John Deere 750 dozer to forest fires on a lowboy. I bought it from CalFire and brought it to the midwest, updating the livery a bit as a tribute to CalFire and as a collector piece. Truck is just licensed as a Historic Vehicle in Missouri.
Truck starts, runs, drives and pulls excellent. Jake Brake, A/C, stereo and all lights work. Tires are older but perfect for driving around and working. They are all virgin tires, not caps. There is no corrosion anywhere on the cab or frame that I have found. This truck doesn"t appear to ever have been through any salt or calcium.
The following two items do not work:
Truck has a Siemens style electric driveline (driveshaft) brake that is set up independent of the Jake Brake. CalFire disconnected it at the switch and it does not work. I haven"t tried to re-power it. Truck has an electric-powered passenger side window that has a weak motor. It will roll down but doesn"t like to roll up without help. I have not messed with it.
Please note that the cab has a white painted roof and red hood and cab. The blue and white stripes are professionally installed decals. The decals cover up some order damage to the paint where someone removed old decals with what appears to be an abrasive wheel. The paint below the decals is damaged and would require a re-paint to be perfect.
This truck would make a great show-piece as-is or can be put back into reliable service. Top speed is around 69 mph which is plenty for a truck this size. New air ride seats were installed, along with a new leather-wrapped steering wheel, OEM style front bumper, OEM NOS aluminum grille surround, stainless original mirror brackets, 4 new batteries, Grover Stuttertone fire truck air horn and miscellaneous other NOS goodies. Emergency equipment operates but has been disconnected in accordance with policies.
Transmission Temp and Ammeter gauges are New Old Stock Ford style gauges that I added to fill blank spaces and have not been connected.
The chains and binders DO NOT SELL WITH THE TRUCK, however the aluminum headache rack goes with the truck. The truck has factory installed Cozad rear frame ramps and a Holland dual locking 5th wheel for heavy duty hauling. Truck is single frame nominal 3/8" channel.
No warranty is expressed nor implied. Truck is sold as-is, where-is in St. Louis County, MO. There are no known issues with the truck other than what I have listed.
