Vehicle description
One of the finest remaining Crowns in the world.
There"s no way to "cheap sell" this bus, after investing over $20,000 in restoration, plus two years of insurance, maintenance and storage. But, on the other hand, there"s virtually nothing available, out there, that"s anywhere near this nice, for the perfectionist collector. I don"t mind keeping it and showing it at the bus collector events we have around CA. But, it IS for sale, and the person who wants the best of the best, a complete "turnkey" gem of a bus, able to drive anywhere, absolutely trouble-free, may well recognize the value in #67. The more you check into advertised Crowns for sale, the more discouraged you become. The owners have gutted some of them for conversion, and abandoned them. Or, they ran them out of oil or coolant, and patched them back together. Home done repairs, faded paint, rust, oil leaks, sloppy suspension, unmatched paint, upholstery and glass. . a lot of "where do you start first? " projects are out there now, selling just under $10,000. Since they"re Crowns (best motor vehicles in the history of the world), many of them actually run and drive, even after years of neglect. But most of them would cost WAY more than this bus to resotre correctly, and many are too far gone to justify the resto, in the first place. So, here are some of the high points of what you would get in this lovely Crown: Perfect running 6-71 Detroit. No oil leaks, no oil usage, perfect fluids. Starts instantly No fluid leaks Smoothest shifting Allison automatic transmission I ever drove Rare Telma Retarder Tilt and telescoping steering wheel Air suspension driver seat Flawless, like new upholstery LED lighting Electric adjusting mirror, heated mirrors It"s almost all aluminum. No rust! Fully sealed compressed air system. Zero leaks Quiet air compressor with quick pressure build up Climbs steep hills at 100+ degrees and the radiator never climbs above 192 degrees. Substantial portions of the bus have been refinished with stunning, correct single stage paint Quiet and velvet smooth drive Unbelieveably clean interior. It"s impossible to imagine a thrity year old vehicle that"s so close to new inside. Incredible exterior cleanliness and gloss. In the condition of a well-mainteined 4-5 year old bus. Has none of the typical issues found in old Crowns. Although, not quite a full 100 point restoration, this is clearly one of the absolutely finest remaining Crown Coaches still on the road. And, with automatic transmission and the "short" 36 foot length, it"s incredibly easy to drive. I have loved Crown buses ever since I rode my first one on a field trip in 1953. I was the kid that walked a mile to school at 6:00 AM, so I could ride the bus the entire route! I bought my first one (on impulse) in 2011, and have now owned and restored nearly thirty Crowns. My reputation stands as a dilligent locator of quality buses, a passion for making them as reliable and presentable as a modern car, and placing them in the hands of owners who will cherish them and appreciate owning one of the finest motor vehicles and the most beautiful school buses ever built. As a passionate Crown collector and fan, I also sponsor several bus collector vintage bus "Ride and Drive" events per year, and am active on all the Crown sites on Facebook. I would direct you to the Facebook group "Crown Coach Junkies" , to see the goings on fo the wonderful people around the world who collect and show Crown buses. As you familiarize yourself with the hobby, you will quickly discover that, unlike many hobbies, even abused Crown buses APPRECIATE in value. And, if you"re like many of us, you"ll find yourself driving your Crown to places like Home Depot, the grocery store and such. You"ll become accustomed to being videoed by passers by, drawing a crowd, every time you stop for fuel, and people begging you to let them see inside the bus and take pictures with their family! I can"t explain it, but every time you have people in the Crown, it"s an instant party. If you are looking for something REALLY fun and Really unique in your life, a Crown like this is the ultimate solution! Call me, Al Jennings, at 310-500-6574, just to chat about buses, or for more information on this lovely Crown. Maybe this is the day you decide to start a new chapter in your life! Maybe you just want to chat about old vehicle restoration. I"m always available and love to talk buses! Enjoy!
