1984 Kaiser M54a2 Water Truck
Beautiful restoration that is fully usable as is and in excellent condition. This Kaiser was commissioned to the Rochford Fire Department in South Dakota and decommissioned in 2018 when new trucks were purchased. It has been painstakingly maintained since it was frame off restored for the FD in early 2004.
The -A2 upgrade has a Continental LDS-465-1A, a 478 cu in (7.8 L) turbocharged inline 6 cylinder developing 175 hp at 2100 rpm. The motor has been gone over and has no issues or concerns. The turbo has been serviced regularly and functions properly.
The truck boasts a 5000 gallon water tank. The tank is serviced by an 1600 CC Gasoline motor sourced from a VW Bug. The motor runs on a 12v. system and operates independently of the truck. Goodyear hoses and other hoses as pictured are included.
The truck was used as a water source for the FD, as such, it is equipped with service industry standard light bars and sirens. It also has a controller mounted in the cab. The lights and sirens have been disabled by cutting the main cable. New owner can easily hook this up, but it is illegal to operate a vehicle with red and blue lights on city streets.
The truck also has a cab heater system, which is uncommon in many military models. It also has power steering, which is invaluable and also not a usual part of military builds.
New 11.00R20 Goodyear Tires were added last year and have less than 100 miles on them.
There are three independent axles with PTO take off available on the front and rear axle.
Everything works as it should, and the truck is rock solid to drive to a work site or across country (max speed 52-55mph). Needs nothing. Starts easily, drives well, tracks true. With that in mind, it is an older truck and things will need maintenance. It is sold as is, where is.
Truck is excellent for use anywhere water is needed. Mining operations, construction sites or fire suppression.
The truck is in Rapid City, South Dakota. Shipping can be arranged if needed at the buyers expense.
