Vehicle description
In February thru April of 2017, this truck was disassembled and restored from stem to stern. I replaced the factory KW pressure treated plywood floorboards and while they were out, I replaced every single airline from behind the dash to every valve and location that they went to. Several new gauges, and features a GPS driven speedometer. I cut the big holes in cab and bunk and Unibilted the opening so the seats recline into the sleeper. I installed a small RV sink with a 6 gallon tank and 12V pump behind the passenger seat. The mileage is original to the truck, and I am the 3rd owner. I put power steering on it in 2017, and replaced the original 3406A PCTA engine with a 7 FB 3406B in June of 2018 with a brand new radiator, a Jake that it did not have, rods and main bearings, front and rear seals.
Reconfigured fuel tanks with all brand new fuel lines. .240 gallons of capacity, added step boxes and a split hydraulic/diesel fuel tank to run wetline system for my detachable gooseneck RGN, a dump trailer, and a propane pump all with one system. New exhaust from turbo to top. 5" straight pipes. New front bumper. All 10 aluminum wheels.
The bunk is off of an "86 T800, and I gutted, cleaned, Unibilted, insulated and set it on the frame. It has a brand new pillowtop mattress that only I have slept on top of the blankets on it myself.
On February 1st, 2019 I developed a problem that I believe is either a head gasket or cracked head, putting pressure in the cooling system. I have now parked the truck and want to do something different. You can rebuild this 3406B 7FB engine, or replace with something electronic if desired. I"ve sunken well over $65,000.00 into this truck in doing this restoration and I am just tired of trucking after 4 decades.
Tires are approximately 75% virgin rubber. The suspension is all rebuilt and rebushed. I have a set of new Eaton DS 402 3:90 ratio differentials that I would sell separately if you wish to step the gearing up a bit. Paid $4,200.00, will sell them for $3,200.00. I was going to do that swap when I got home with the truck, but now with this issue, I lost ambition.
The headache rack behind the sleeper DOES NOT GO WITH THE TRUCK. .
I have the original 3406A PCTA engine @ 400 HP that still runs but needs a piston, and another spare A model Cat for parts that you can have with the sale of the truck free if you wish to have the original engine. This is a very, very nice A model. .I searched for one to drive daily 2 years ago when my last truck got wrecked. .but they were all grossly over-priced, and nowhere near in this condition. The interiors of the ones I looked at were all worn; this one is beautiful with no holes drilled in the dash, clean upholstery and brand new factory headliner. I"ve done all the work for you to have a beautiful working show truck, and all you need to do is pick up where I left off and enjoy this truck as much as I did.
Been a fun ride. . .and a LOT of work put into this rig.
