Vehicle description
This is a 2nd owner Elegante that has been somewhat remodeled. It only has 48,000 total miles on it. Though it could really use new paint and some other items I"ll point out below it is in pretty good condition. The 403 Olds engine starts easy, runs well, has more than enough power and the transmission shifts smoothly. Because it is front wheel drive, so low to the ground, and has air-bag rear suspension it rides great, is easy to handle and is actually more like driving a huge mini-van as opposed to RVs that drive and ride like trucks since they are built on truck chassis.
Here"s the story: My college age daughter wanted to see the states and visit friends and family and needed something inexpensive, reliable, and easy to drive. We bought this from an elderly gentleman that absolutely loved it but was too old to drive. The interior was faded and stained and it needed quite a bit of updating before she was going to be happy. We started by removing all of the original furnishings and built a bed in the back with plenty of storage underneath, designed new galley cabinetry, and replaced the propane stove with a new microwave and 2 burner electric cook top. The headliner was completely replaced as were the side wall panels in the front and back.
Next we setup the space were the front passenger seat would be with a map/computer table and the salon with a new love seat, large screen television and small dinette.
However, after all this work she met a guy who is still in school and lost all interest in travel. Go figure!
Here"s what has been done: All vent covers on roof have been replaced The ceiling and wall panels have been replaced Custom galley cabinet and ceramic tile counter top Installed microwave and electric 2 burner stove Refaced cabinets front and back Custom drapes and fiberglass rods Custom front windshield drapes New carpet in front and vinyl flooring in back LED lighting in front, bath, and rear Queen size bed in back (no mattress) New 40 gal water tank and level sensor NOS holding tank with new level sensor and dump valve New coach batteries and charger New engine/starter battery Rebuilt carburetor New electric fuel pump NOS air-bag pass side Good cond air-bag drivers side New air bag system compressor 6 new tires Here"s what is original and works well: The propane furnace/tank works great The water heater works great Both sinks and the shower work great The rear A/C gets cold The brakes work as originally intended Also included: The driver"s side trim has been removed but is included A good spare air-bag The original furnishings and the front passenger seat and pedestal Full disclosure: The driver"s side windshield has a crack down low and is fogged around the outside edges The passenger"s side windshield is fogged around the outside edges The front A/C blows but needs servicing as it doesn"t get cold The engine driven A/C needs recharging/upgrading to R-134a The refrigerator gets cool but not cold. The toilet needs a new dump gate seal The coach water pump works but is noisy. The Onan generator works well and has only 420 hrs on it but the starter solenoid doesn"t always disengage Nearly every part for this motorhome is still available.
