Vehicle description
1977 American Clipper Class C Motorhome Self Contained
I know very little about these so I suggest you do your homework. I also suggest inspecting the vehicle in person. Again, my knowledge is in classic muscle cars, not RV"s. I bought this vehicle because it was described and photographed in a way that made it look like a low mile survivor, it"s not. I just want to be clear about the description. You should know what you"re buying.
I think it probably has 105k miles based on the brake pedal wear, seat wear and wiper transmission play. It does run well and starts right up. It shifts through the gears just fine. I don"t see any major oil leaks, which is unusual for this mileage. Gauges all work and seem accurate. Steering and brakes are consistent with a this type of vehicle and mileage. Drives good. The tires have a lot of tread but I don"t know how old they are. Body and paint are fair. They look much better in pictures that in real life. There are signs of damage to the fiberglass where the awning may have been hit, plus miscellaneous other areas. There are two cracks above the windshield area that are in the fiberglass. According to the person I got the unit from the roof A/C and Heater work great, but I don"t know how to check them. I wouldn"t guarantee it. The glass is all good with no breaks. The inside overall presents fair in person. It looks much better in pictures. It hasn"t been detailed that I can tell but I think it would need carpet replacement and possible cushions, depending on the use. There are various areas of water damage to the ceiling. It had or has water leaks and needs repairing in those areas. The back door doesn"t fit the opening and drags pretty badly. Not sure why this is. Could be floor rot or just sag in the body. Just want it pointed out. Overall it"s a complete unit and very worthy of a restoration. I just don"t want anyone bidding on it, like I did, with the hopes that it"s a mint condition, super low mile, peach, it"s NOT. It"s a driver quality that needs work but would be amazing with a restoration.
If you want specific pictures of something, I"m happy to help.
