Vehicle description

1977 Kent Cortez Motorhome - Vintage Class A Camper - GM V8 Gas 455 Olds Toronado engine - FWD - Automatic Transmission
Dubbed the "Clark Kent Cortez" because of its patriotic paint job making it look like the Man of Steel with its blue body and red waist belt. Clark is currently located in Joshua Tree, California, where it served as the area’s highest rated AirBnB rental. 4.98 stars and lots of happy guests.
It runs and drives but has been sitting for several years. I last took it on a trip to Mammoth Lakes in the summer of 2018. It always started up and ran strong. And it starts up now without issue and runs smoothly. That said, it should be looked at as a project, and it needs to be gone through by a mechanic before the next trip. It could make a short trip, but for a longer trip buyers should plan to transport the camper by tow. It has been on “non-op”status with the DMV for the past 3 years. I’m happy to start and run the engine for interested parties, but cannot allow any test driving. Some of the mechanical issues I noticed before parking: transmission fluid leak from the pan gasket minor coolant leak – radiator may need replacing brakes were strong, but could always use checking tires have plenty of tread but have some sun cracking
Other non-mechanical issues that need to be addressed: cracked holding tank and needs new toilet (I used a cassette potty) leaking propane furnace (the ventless blue flame works great) leaking propane fridge (it’s a super nice dometic 3-way,but none of the ways works) 4,000 watt Onan generator runs fine but has a field problem(my plan was always to replace it with a solar genie) Upholstery is in good condition but a 70s shag chocolate style that some may not appreciate Surprisingly little rust for this vehicle, which is known forrust, but there are some problem spots that will need attention The transmission shifter needs to be adjusted as the gears do not match the dash display (the transmission works fine, it’s just hard to know what gear you’re in until getting used to it) Two leaks in the roof that I’ve been unable to locate Both roof a/c and engine a/c need to be fixed or replaced
What’s in good shape: Upholstery/carpeting/flooring Stove and oven Fresh water plumbing: sink, bathroom & shower. Hookups for city water or 25 gallon tank via water pump 2 water heaters: one propane heater for shower and a dual water heater for the sink that works off 110v and engine power Wood cabinetry, though some sun fading on the kitchen drawers Tow package with ball Suspension is very smooth Manuals and mechanic receipts for lots of past work Windows and doors Quality insulation in the walls and ceiling, so stays nice and warm in the winter All exterior lights Roof vents and fans Deluxe snow chains with self adjusting technology Passenger double-seat flips around to face either the road or athe dinette, and also lays flat to make a bed Rear couch seating converts to beds 10 gallon propane tank 30 amp cord for grid hookup
