1976 Toyota Chinook Mini-RV.
These classics are harder and harder to find and continually going up in price due to a limited number of units made and some used for projects. Being a running, driving vehicle one could use it as is, restore it further, customize your own camper vehicle, or DIY your own vision. I have owned it a couple years but I have only put a few hundred miles on it due to other projects. In that time, I have added: New rear leaf springs, brand new carburetor, a bunch of tune up parts and fluids, a fresh oil change for selling, tires, interior lights, custom cushions/covers (1 now has a couple inch chunk missing on its backside),exterior door catch, and replaced the outside water, power plugs and nozzles, and top mirrors. I both purchased and only used this Chinook in Idaho. When I bought it, I went through it with the intent to keep it as original as possible and using it long term. The motor compression tested great last year and has good power, for a 4-speed 20R 4 cylinder 2 wheel drive with camper that is.
While I have worked to get this in solid functional running condition, it is a 1970’s used vehicle, not new or restored. The mileage gauge rolls over at 100,000, so the mileage is considered exempt. There are a couple inch holes in the front wheel wells, some rust one would expect with a 1976 vehicle but not a rust belt demo and keep only the camper rig, the zippers on the canvas top are not functional, and of course there is plenty of cosmetic wear. So one should not expect brand new or a show rig, but rather a used classic 1970s vehicle.
