Vehicle description

Hello all, and thank you for looking at this auction for my 1975 FMC 2900 R Motorhome. PLEASE read the entire ad before bidding or asking questions.
Do you want to buy this RV now? Do you want to make an offer? Do you want to ask me a question? If the answer is "YES" to any of these , please ring me up at 912.4148993.
I WILL END THIS AUCTION AT ANY TIME if/ when someone calls me and makes a deal on the rig. Does not matter if it has bids, does not matter what the auction says the price is at, I will sell this to the seriously interested party that calls me up.
If you are local, you can come and look and Ill drive us around a bit , if you bring cash so I know you are in a position to buy this machine. I apologize, but I do not have time to show this to you because you are curious , or think it looks cool. . I have very little disposable time these days and can not take the time to meet up and go through everything if you do not have the funds in hand to buy , or need your betrothed"s permission, or still need to sell your Ford Mustang first . Please be courteous and understanding regarding time constraints.
NOW ONTO THE MOTORHOME : This is # 850 of about 1100 of these ever made. YES, they cost about twice what the median house in the USA cost at the time , so famous / rich people owned them, primarily.
I purchased this earlier this year when I was feeling a bit rich, myself. I have always wanted an FMC motorhome, and this one popped up in my time zone, and I could (almost) afford it, so I borrowed a little money and bought it. IT IS SO CLEAN AND ORIGINAL. Everyone loses their mind when they come inside, or see me filling it with gas , etc.
Zero rust, and I do not see any cracks in fiberglass , etc. NO leaks . No leaks from mechanical / house systems, and there are no leaks from the roof / windows/ etc. This is a dry unit!
I have about 5 books of records and factory manuals, parts lists, and photos that go with this. I think the mileage may be original after going through some of the papers here. Odometer shows 72,XXX miles.
Engine starts right up, easily, even after sitting for many weeks. Runs excellent! I actually seem to be returning about 7 - 9 MPG in this, which is more than I expected with a 440 Chrysler engine pushing an 11,000 pound RV down the road at 70 MPH. BRAKES feel great and have had some recent work done to them.
Wheels are the desirable ALCOA upgrade, with almost-new SUMITOMO 225/70 R19.5 tires. Runs and drives very well. Recently had $1700 spent on making it more stable on the road (new shocks, alignment, some stabilizer-things installed) and it does pretty well , but I still get nervous on the freeway doing 70 / 75 MPH and being passed by 18 wheelers. . this is a big , flat vehicle and does catch the wind / drafts.
Mechanically, driving and stopping, I think this wants for nothing.
INSIDE , fridge, stove, furnace, toilet, water tanks and pump , have all been used recently and work perfectly. HOUSE A/C air conditioning units work when plugged into shore power, or the 6500KW ONAN generator is running. OH YES, the generator works fine and starts/ stops off of the dash switches or in the engine compartment.
Windshields are not cracked, or chipped, but there is a small bit of light fogging in the lower passenger side corner, not in any way obscuring vision.
Cupboards / drawers/ counters / seats all in excellent condition.
Rear double "Twin Beds" are actually brand new Bamboo memory foam mattresses , and in excellent condition, only slept on about 4 or 5 times.
All curtains in excellent condition, and original.
Brown carpet in the front seems to be non- original . I think the brown upholstery ion front seat cushions in not original , but looks very 1980s and is in excellent / perfect condition.
"Wood" cabinets all in excellent / perfect condition.
All driver"s dash instruments / switches seem to work. There are some extra gauges for transmission fluid temperature and house battery condition (look like 1970"s aftermarket gauges ) which only sometimes work.
Level indicator for water level and holding tank levels work only sometime, but I am not sure If I am using the switches correctly, either . . Has not been an issue.
Toilet is an almost-new porcelain unit.
Microwave and coffee maker present and work on 110V.
Flooring in bedroom non-original but in excellent condition.
All windows / switches / trim/ moldings present and in excellent condition.
In short, this RV is ready to be hopped into and driven now, anywhere, given enough space and budget for fuel. It feels very nice inside and not shabby , like a unit that someone has lived long-term inside of , or one that has suffered water leaks / sealing issues. You could hop in here and drive anywhere in the US right now. I wish I had time to. .
I would keep this thing , if I had a covered space to leave it in over the winter. I can pull it into my shop if I have to, but it does take up way too much room. . I am not selling because I need the money, and I am not desperate to sell this, so will not respond positively to you telling me how "you know what these are worth, and you think my price is way too high " / etc etc etc. I want something in the neighborhood of $20K for this. Maybe more. Might take a little less if you call me and are real nice and not a know-it-all on the phone.
If you follow these FMC motorhomes, I am sure you saw the one on Bring a Trailer last month sell for over $150,000 . It made me consider putting a Duramax turbo diesel engine and Allison transmission in this one too. . I think mine is in similarly excellent condition inside and out , but the diesel drive train can"t be beat, and it would be expensive to convert.
What else can I tell you? . . I can tell you I would appreciate you calling me with any questions you may have, I really do not have the time or inclination to return endless email or text messages. If you text me, I am going to call you. If you do not want to talk on the phone, I will not consider you a serious potential buyer , you will be chalked up as being another tire kicker. Sorry if I sound harsh, but again, I just do not have a lot of time to exchange banter with daydreamers here. I only listed this to sell it easily and quickly, not to have to work on talking anyone into buying this.
IF you live close, and want to drive here to show me what you have , I may be willing to exchange this for a Citroen DS / ID / Safari , aircooled Porsche 911 , Boxster S manual , rewire my 1928 house, put in asphalt / concrete driveways at my home, for a land rover Defender, VW Westfalia/ Syncro, AMC Javelin, Ferrari Mondial , or heck, I don"t know, a classic pre-1972 Jaguar.
Cash may just be the easiest option for everyone involved , now that I think about it.
If you read all of this, Bravo!, I appreciate you.
If you have any questions or want to buy this cool old motorhome, my # is 912.4148993
Speaking of "BUYING" ; I do NOT take paypal. I DO take Zelle/ Venmo/ wire transfer , or cash in person. Ill end the auction now for a small deposit, payment in full needs to be made in 5 - 7 days time . Bank transfer , check in the mail, or show up in person and hand me cash. You can get a motel room in town and wait until my bank verifies that your cashier"s check has cleared, if you want to hand me one of those.
I can store this for you, for free, for about a month or so after the end of the auction. Unit must be paid in full within 7 days, still.
All inspections / checking it out is to happen BEFORE bidding / buying/ making an offer. No winning the auction and then having it checked out, that is not how an auction works. You win it, you are expected to pay for it. Call me if you have any issues or want an inspection.
Check my feedback , and bid with confidence. Or wait, don"t bid, but call me and we can make a deal.
Thank you . .
