Vehicle description
44133 miles shows on the odometer, but it was driven for a few thousand miles without the odometer cable functioning by it"s previous owner. As soon as I bought this van in 1999 I installed a new cable. The original deteriorated RV items such as propane tank/water tank/etc. were removed by the previous owner and the pretty-looking tongue-and-groove interior siding as well as the bed and storage compartments were added - about 1999 also.Besides the original Ford VIN number, this van has it"s Class-B "Open Road Industries" vehicle number shown on the side-plates as: 0837415 / CA-RV designation as CA508659. I presently have it insured via GEICO as an RV but "non-operational" status with the CA-DMV.Minimal rust but some on the front hood and on the battery holder which is half-gone (hydrogen-gas causes rust. I added an aluminum battery holder base but the battery compartment should be re-built.There is some play in the steering; the engine will run quite nicely with gasoline added to its recently repaired carburetor, but it requires a new mechanical fuel pump - at this time I am adding an electrical fuel pump in-order to get it in-running condition for brief movements. The lights all function well. It"s transmission was replaced in January 1999 bu it"s previous owner, but that made the speedometer read about 5 to 10 MPH too high, hence the paper strip added for accuracy (made via a GPS receiver!).Built in September 1973 and then modified by Open Road Industries of Warren, Ohio, USA in December 1973 - 1974 year release. For additional info., please contact me via here. I really enjoyed camping within a radius of 30 miles from my desert home and I had set-up my ham-radio equipment inside for month"s worth of camping enjoyment. I love the fact that I can stand-up fully inside this nice unit! Thank you for your consideration! Steve
