For sale is a 1973 GMC Motorhome. It is the 26" model with a side bath. For those unfamiliar with the GMC Motorhome, it was the only motorhome ever conceived, designed and built by an automobile manufacturer. It was designed to be “car- like” with front wheel drive and cutting edge with air spring suspension and wide curved glass. An aluminum skin was bonded to a gel coated fiberglass outer shell. It has an Oldsmobile 455 engine and a THM425 transmission. Parts are still widely available and there is a very active ownership group happy to help with any issues (google "GMC motorhome black list").
We purchased this motorhome a year ago and with our work schedules we are just not able to use it as much as we anticipated. Recently went on a 4 hour trip and it ran great with no issues.
Good: New tires and aluminum wheels ($2,000) New suspension air pump ($200) Fuel injection with redundant pumps ($1,500) New engine battery ($150) Engine runs strong Pex water tubing for interior plumbing Newer Norcold 3 way refrigerator Newer AC unit Frame in excellent condition with no rust; was told it had a frame replacement/brake line replacement by previous owner but do not have receipts Re-insulated throughout with cool shield bubble insulation No water damage as far as I can tell, seems to be sealed well
Bad: Interior is rough but clean/useable Connection to shore water has been removed (need to fill tank and pressurize via pump) Gas tanks have some sediment (fuel filters should be changed regularly (or add a larger one) Generator needs a carb rebuild but will fire Propane is connected but has not tested Speedometer unhooked (shows 36k miles but unsure of how long it has been unhooked for) Furnace removed Dash AC does not work DC electrical system/inverter not used (batteries are shot) Water heater disconnected
