Vehicle description
*We are relisting our Winnie! The winning bidder never paid and we are ready to move her on down the road. To hopefully make that a smoother process we are adding a Buy It Now option this time around (for a price that is well below several of the highest bids from our previous auction). Our original description is still below and nothing has changed regarding the Winnie other than that she is now two weeks older! As before, I will be happy to answer any questions submitted and will be checking for new messages several times a day. PLEASE only bid if you intend to purchase. If you have zero feedback that"s ok but please send me a message via to discuss any questions you have before bidding. Cheers! -Rob Up for sale we have a 1972 Winnebago Brave D-18. We are listing this rare classic Winnie and will be honestly sad to see it go. This RV is a time capsule of vintage Winnebago awesomeness. The interior is very clean and reflects the unusually low miles for a vehicle this age (41,921 to be exact). The carburetor is recently rebuilt and we recently had it running and driving. Honestly, the Dodge 318-3 V8 sounds very smooth when it idles. We did take it for a short test drive on the roads near our home and the transmission shifted smoothly up to and back down from highway speed and there was no evidence of overheating at all. The brakes are very soft and due to this alone, I would recommend planning to trailer the Winnie to its new home or have it towed to a nearby shop for the necessary work to make it trip worthy. We purchased it locally and consequently don’t have experience with shipping costs but presumably it’s short 104 inch wheelbase would make it easier than most RV’s to ship. The short nose to tail length is also what makes these Winnebagos so desirable. An ebay or craigslist search will show you that ones in this condition simply don’t come up for sale often and they are getting harder and harder to find. If you are checking this auction out you probably already know all that. It can be parked almost anywhere a car or truck can be parked because it doesn’t exceed the 19 foot limit set by most municipalities across the country. This versatility makes it a perfect candidate for #VanLife, tailgating, or just good old-fashioned camping. It has plenty of storage and room for upgrades if someone were looking for a very solid platform for customization. As far as I know from having spent some time crawling around underneath the vehicle the frame is solid and there are absolutely no fluids leaking that would be cause for concern. Of course this is a 44 year old model so it is not perfect and it shows its wear in a few spots but it is a solid platform to be sure. Non-original components/upgrades include the following: New Generac generator in 2001 with only 97 hours on it!, Scissor jacks new in 2001, water filtration new in 2001, propane tanks and lines checked in 2001, new 6 gallon water heater in 2002 all done by original owners when vehicle was at ~38k miles. Other equipment that is original to the best of our knowledge includes refrigerator/freezer (propane/electric), furnace, gas stove and oven which appear to have never been used, toilet, sink and shower. There is evidence of some water intrusion around the A/C unit. We have had several big thunderstorms since purchasing this RV and the newer seals around the unit show no signs of continued leakage but the residual bubbling is there and is visible in one of the photos. We are in possession of the full service manual, original purchase paperwork, original sales brochure, and a pile of service records that were passed along to us from the previous owner. Please see the photos and ask questions before bidding. I will happily answer any questions to the best of my knowledge so please ask before bidding. I am neither a mechanic nor an RV expert but I will provide answers to any questions I can. Thanks, and have fun bidding! -Rob
