Vehicle description
1971 M35A2 2½-ton 6x6 antique military deuce and half cargo truck. This 1971 AM General M35A2 was acquired by us a little over 3 years ago. These trucks were designed for military use and assumed the “Deuce and a Half” name from the 2.5-ton GMC truck used in World War II. This unit has a multi-fuel Hercules 478ci turbocharged inline-six paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. This M35A2 is now being offered with a clean and in-hand Indiana title. This M35A2 has received some paintwork in the past, though no obvious signs of prior damage or body repairs are present. A few areas of corrosion and peeling of paint commensurate with age are noted. The seats are worn and the rest of the cabin is believed to be largely original. Dual M16 rifle rack is installed and included. This truck transmits power through a factory 5-speed gearbox linked to a two-way transfer case with high and low settings. The 6X6 system and transmission are operational although it"s been some time since the front drive has been engaged. Currently, the odometer shows 30,705 miles, the tachometer displays 1,104.5 engine hours. Under the hood is a multi-fuel Hercules 478ci turbocharged inline-six, which was quoted at around 134 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque when new. The multi-fuel system allows the engine to operate reliably on a variety of fuels including diesel, jet fuel, kerosene, heating oil, gasoline, and more. The MA2HD mounted in the rear is a non-firing resin cast reproduction which will go with the vehicle. We"ve enjoyed this vehicle for 1,135 miles since we"ve owned it which included parades, shows and simple pleasure drives as recently as a week ago. The unit has a canvas top in good condition being stored indoors. Engine fires immediately, all gauges work, all lights work with the exception of a gauge light or two. Brakes are good however the right front brake cylinder seems to have developed a slight leak over the summer. Compressor, air gauge and air-over-hydraulic brakes are fully functional. Steering is tight and easy to drive at speed. It has always had a "rattle" somewhere beneath the vehicle, I do not know where it is coming from. It was noticeable when we initially test drove the vehicle 3 years ago and still exists after the 1,135 miles we"ve driven it. It can be annoying but we have not experienced any reliability issues with the vehicle. This will be a cash only transaction, pick up/shipping will be sole responsibility of the buyer. Cash payment must be made prior to removal of vehicle from property. Vehicle is being offered for sale because we"ve had our fun with it and need the shop space. Please note. . I"ve tried to describe the vehicle to the best of my ability but we all have varying expectations. With that in mind I"m not asking for an immediate deposit. . you come and look at the vehicle as the winning bidder and if for some reason you feel it"s not for you, I won"t hold you to the transaction. Can"t extend anymore bidder confidence than that. I won"t reimburse any fees or expenses you may have incurred in the process of bidding or travel to see the vehicle however, and vehicle is offered as-is where-is with no warranty expressed or implied. Please call or text with any questions and I"ll do my best to provide further details. Reserve the right to terminate auction at anytime prior to its end.
