Vehicle description

In my possession since 2016 this restored 1971 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 features an extensive grocery list of engine, suspension, steering, cooling & body upgrades. Running a rebuilt 2.0L motor with less than 200 km, this car can be used on track or as a daily driver.
The previous owner modified the car for Vintage Racing in California. The car was SCCA approved & met all vintage racing requirements. The car was raced at Willow Springs on numerous occasions prior to shipping to Canada. The car is street legal in Canada but has not been tracked since arriving.
This GTV is offered with 4 boxes of spares, complete up-to-date records & receipts, a professional appraisal and a clean Alberta, Canadian title. Shipping and cost sharing arrangements for delivery can be negotiated with the buyer. The car was professionally appraised at $45,000 CAD in Calgary, AB in 2016. Driving links etc at the bottom of the doc.
INTERIOR A Corbeau Forza Sport racing seat have been installed and a Firecharger fire suppression system. An enclosed battery system with an electric kill switch setup mounted on the passenger floor and custom roll bar. Custom metal door panels have been fitted and a Momo steering wheel.
The interior is bare bones but could easily be taken back to stock. Glass is good all around with typical wear showing on the front and rear windows. Roofliner is in excellent condition as is the replacement dash. Wipers, signals, headlights and foglights are all in working order.
ENGINE The 1750 cc engine has been replaced with a torquier 2.0L track/street engine. There is over $6000 CAD into the engine with a complete bottom end rebuild as of August, 2020. This includes resetting valve clearances, replacing improper exhaust manifold studs, new rings, new bearings, rehoned crank /block, new cylinder liners with seals, new Reinz head gasket, gasket set and new Alfaholics aluminum Weber mounts.
The engine is still in break-in mode but with headers, exhaust, cams and ported head output is estimated at 155+ bhp.
• New Classic Alfa 2.0L cylinder liners, main & connecting rod bearings and ring set • Reinz head gasket & Classic Alfa gasket set • block, connecting rods rehoned and rebored • Crank polished and cleaned HEAD The head was disassembled as part of the engine rebuild as clearances were too tight. Valves were ground to achieve proper clearances with new seals & buckets installed. The head, running .306 cams, was originally ported in California. New timing chain and gears were installed by the previous owner. FUEL, COOLING & IGNITION In 2012 a high performance electric fuel pump with a new ATL fuel cell were installed as were headers & hi-flow exhaust system. A switch-operated pusher fan helps with cooling as does a Sirocco Pro Stock aluminum radiator, with built-in oil cooler, by John Norman Racing. A new starter and alternator were installed & water pump.
Weber 45s, featuring new Alfaholic aluminum mounts, were rebuilt by the previous owner but retuned as part of the engine rebuild. A new alternator & high output starter & an upgraded electronic ignition c/w Crane Cams Fireball XR3000 box are included.
GEARBOX, SUSPENSION, STEERING & DIFFERENTIAL The suspension was prepared for vintage racing by the previous owner with Bilstein shocks, lowering springs, new rubber bushings, and a refurbished steering linkage. Lower & upper ball joints, control arms, pitman arm, tie rod ends, idler arm etc installed. Plus new front & rear sway bars, Poly rear trailing arm, rubber bushings + a $2000 Watts linkage from Alfaholics was installed.
California owner had a new balanced replacement rear drive shaft installed, universal joints replaced, new axle bearing, seals installed and the differential rebuilt, resealed and serviced. The 5-speed gearbox was rebuilt in 2012.
Track spec’d springs were originally installed but replaced with street friendly springs from Classic Alfa. Original track springs are included with the sale.
BRAKES / TIRES Car runs on Dunlop Direzza DZ101 205 50 rubber w approx 80% tread front & rear and 15 x 7 rims. Previous owner installed new front brake pads, calipers, drilled rotors, New front rear wheel cylinders, brake hoses + stainless steel lines, master brake slave cylinder + new brake booster unit installed 2011.
BODY PAINT The body was refurbished in 2010. The doors, both rocker panels, and front fenders replaced, new rear wheel arches installed. Floor pans and trunk floor were repaired. Alfa Romeo “Verde Inglese” green was applied w new weatherstripping and window felts fitted. The interior is clean and dry with no rust. No considerable or excessive body filler or dents evident. Paint and body work was completed in Los Angeles, CA. (2010).
