1969 PIPER ARROW 200, LOW 2591 TT, 1,361 SMOH, BEEN SITTING INSIDE, COMPLETE, UNDAMAGED, CHEAP! 1969 IS THE FIRST YEAR FOR THE 200 H.P. FUEL INJECTED ARROW, AND IT OUTSOLD THE ARROW 180 BY 400% THAT FIRST YEAR! ALTHOUGH THE 180 H.P. ARROW HAD A LOT GOING FOR IT (NEW STYLE DASH WITH A CLEAN 6 PACK INSTRUMENT LAYOUT, QUADRANT THROTTLE/PROP/MIXTURE CONTROLS, TOE BRAKES, 3 RD SIDE WINDOW ADDED, ETC.), THE 200 H.P. ARROW HAD ALL THIS GOING FOR IT, PLUS UNIQUE INTERIORS AND SPECIAL PAINT AND IT WAS 5 KNOTS FASTER, AT LEAST, THAN THE 180! EXPECT 140-142 KNOTS EVERY DAY, ON ABOUT 10 GALLONS PER HOUR, WITH 50 GALLONS OF FUEL ON BOARD. THIS AIRCRAFT HAS A USEFUL LOAD OF 1,019 LBS, OR FULL FUEL PAYLOAD OF 619 LBS. LEAVE 10 GALLONS OF GAS IN THE TRUCK AND 4 FAA HUMANS GO UP TO 4 HOURS! THE ARROW IS A TRUE CROSS-COUNTRY AIRPLANE. THIS AIRPLANE WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT! NO HAIL! NO PROP STRIKE OR ENGINE PROBLEMS! BUT IT HAS BEEN SITTING IN A HANGER FOR 20 YEARS! A JOB RELOCATION, FOLLOWED BY HEALTH ISSUES, THE LOSS OF A MEDICAL BUT NOT THE LOVE OF FLYING, ETC. CAUSED THE OWNER TO KEEP THE AIRPLANE ALL THIS TIME! THE AIRPLANE IS HARDLY WORSE FOR THE SITTING TIME, DUE TO THE INSIDE STORAGE IN SOUTH CENTRAL OHIO, NOWHERE NEAR SALT WATER OR SALT AIR! THE ENGINE TURNS OVER JUST FINE (NOT FROZEN UP), BUT OF COURSE IT, LIKE ALL OF THE LITTLE DETAILS, NEED TO BE GIVEN A GOOD INSPECTION BY A QUALIFIED MECHANIC BEFORE THIS AIRPLANE TURNS A BLADE! YOU MIGHT THINK THAT THE REGISTRATION WOULD BE EXPIRED AFTER SITTING ALL THIS TIME, BUT THE FORMER OWNER HAD PLANS TO FLY IT AGAIN, SO IT IS FULLY REGISTERED AND THE N NUMBER IS VALID, SO NO WORRIES ABOUT THE PAPERWORK! WE HAVE THE FAA AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE AND THE LAST FAA REGISTRATION, AS WELL AS A SIGNED FAA BILL OF SALE. THE LOGBOOKS FOR AIRFRAME AND ENGINE GO ALL THE WAY BACK TO NEW IN 1969, THROUGH THE LAST ANNUAL IN 1999! THE 2,000 HOUR TBO ENGINE HAS 1361 SMOH BY CLYDESDALE, A MAJOR SHOP. IT HAS NOT HAD ANY DAMAGE OR PROP STRIKE! THE PROP ITSELF HAS 807 SMOH AND SHOWS NO DAMAGE. THE AIRFRAME ITSELF IS CLEAN, WITH NO HAIL DAMAGE OR PHYSICAL DAMAGE EXCEPT THE LOWER RUDDER SKIN, WHICH HAS HAD AN IMPACT, VISIBLE ON THE RIGHT SIDE, PRESUMABLY SOME “HANGER RASH” FROM MOVING SOMETHING AROUND THE AIRPLANE WHILE IT WAS IN THE HANGER. THE WINGS AND OTHER SURFACES SHOW NO DAMAGE. THE TOTAL TIME OF THIS AIRCRAFT IS EXTREMELY LOW, WHICH IS ALWAYS A GOOD THING, BUT WITH THE UPCOMING A.D. FOR INSPECTION OF WING SPARS FOR POSSIBLE CRACKS, A PRIVATELY OWNED AND USED AIRPLANE LIKE THIS ONE DOES NOT EVEN REQUIRE THE A.D. INSPECTION UNTIL IT REACHES 5,000 HOURS TIME IN SERVICE! THIS AIRPLANE HAS BARELY BEEN USED ½ OF THAT TIME, SO IT HAS 2,400 HOURS BEFORE EVEN AN INSPECTION IS REQUIRED! THIS IS OBVIOUSLY ONE OF THE LOWER TIME ARROWS OF THIS VINTAGE AVAILABLE! INSIDE, THE AIRPLANE IS COMPLETE WITH ALL FLIGHT AND ENGINE GUAGES, AND IN FACT THE ONLY MISSING STANDARD ITEMS ARE THE 2 NAV-COMMS, 1 NAV INDICATOR AND THE TRANSPONDER, AND EVEN THE TRAYS AND WIRING FOR THOSE UNITS IS INSTALLED AND COMPLETE! THE SEATS APPEAR TO BE ORIGINAL (OR AT LEAST OLDER) RED CLOTH, SO AN UPDATE WOULD PROBABLY MAKE SENSE. RETRACTOR REEL SHOULDER HARNESSES, NOT AVAILABLE WHEN THIS AIRPLANE WAS NEW, WERE INSTALLED LATER WITH A PIPER SERVICE KIT. THE EXTERIOR IS ORIGINAL, IN THE CUSTOMARY RED, BUT LOOKS PRETTY GOOD OVERAL. IF IT COULD BE BUFFED UP SHINY, I THINK IT WOULD LOOK SUPER COOL AND RETRO! EVEN THOUGH THE HOURS ARE VERY LOW AND THIS AIRPLANE IS ALMOST COMPLETELY UNDAMAGED, IT SEEMS THAT A DISASSEMBLY TO TRANSPORT, REFURBISH AND INSPECT WOULD BE A BETTER COURSE OF ACTION RATHER THAN ATTEMPT A FERRY FLIGHT FROM WHERE IT IS. YOUR MECHANIC AT HOME CAN ADVISE YOU BETTER THAN I ON THIS. I AM AN ARROW LOVER, WITH 1,200 HOURS PLUS OF ARROW TIME IN MY LOGBOOKS, SO I CANNOT BEAR TO PART THIS AIRPLANE OUT. MAKE IT A PROJECT, MAYBE A FAMILY PROJECT?, AND BRING THIS AIRPLANE BACK TO LIFE YOUR WAY! YOU ARE STARTING WITH A COMPLE AIRPLANE AT A FRACTION OF IT’S IN ANNUAL VALUE!
