Vehicle description
This no reserve auction is for a beautiful, vintage 1967 Airstream 24’ Tradewind.
Meticulously restored back to near original condition, with minor alterations (for example, white paint on cabinets). This Airstream is all original, including the factory Atwood water heater, furnace, and original Dometic Refrigerator.
The previous owner spent the last few years cleaning it up. Before his ownership, it sat on a lake for several decades and served as a lake cottage.
The Tradewind is one of the best designs Airstream has put out, and this particular model comes from one of the best years of production. From 1966 to 1968, the Airstream Tradewind featured distinctive, curved corning frameless windows which give it a very streamlined profile. These campers (66"-68" Tradewinds) are extremely rare and difficult to find.
With an overall length of just 24ft and dry weight of just over 2,150lbs, it’s easy to tow and small enough to be allowed in National or State Park campgrounds. It"s also the perfect candidate for small upgrades due to its light weight. It can basically be towed behind anything.
The Tradewind features a large open lounge type floor plan that is great for entertaining or just hanging out. It’s very roomy for its size and comfortably sleeps up to 4. The gaucho sofa converts into a bed for 2 adults (the previous owner added a twin mattress on top of the sofa), and the front dinette area is set up as a single bed but can also function as a couch. Very cute and functional full bathroom with a large shower, vanity sink, plenty of storage space, and a toilet with a privacy divider door. The fiberglass end cap is crack-free and in excellent condition as well, which is unusual!
Lots of upper and lower storage space including two wardrobe closets. Most of the interior built in cabinets and wood walls were refinished using durable white paint in a semi gloss finish. Lights are dim inside, but power works as it should. Like many Airstream"s of this vintage, the connector for the running lights is corroded and will need replaced. The propane system features two 20lb propane tanks. The on board systems are over 50 years old and (propane, stove, refrigerator, furnace, water heater etc) have not been tested. They will need to be gone through by the new owner. The sub floor was replaced by the previous owner and trailer frame is in excellent condition. New hardwood floors were installed and add to the light, airy feel of this vintage camper. Tires will need replaced prior to towing (we can help with this for an additional cost). Also note that two of the outer doors need are currently held shut using duct tape and will need to be re-latched, and the upper pan (covering the front air vent) flew off during transport and will also need to be replaced.
Because of their small size, these trailers are increasingly being bought and shipped overseas making it evermore hard to find them in this condition. This is a true American Icon and will appreciate as time passes. Delivery and transport options are available.
We are asking $21,500 OBO locally and reserve the right to end this auction at any time. This is listed no reserve, so if it doesn"t sell locally by the ned of the auction, it will go to the highest bidder.
As this is a 52 year old trailer, it is not perfect but is in fantastic shape for its age. We"re glad to answer any questions or show the trailer, which is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Please feel free to text or call Nathan at 260-615-2050.
