Great original condition, hardly anything changed or altered. 1966 27 foot Airstream Landyacht Ambassador. No rust, as it has mostly been in New Mexico, and no damage. Original owners manual included.
This would be a great Air B and B unit, or to use as a guesthouse for your visitors. At $50 or $100 a day for B and B rental, you would return your investment in no time. Or buy this and live in it- you can easily get your investment back after a few years, unlike other brands of trailers like a Jayco for example that only lose value.
The Airstream comes with valid NM title, and is free and clear. Has an original 1966 NM trailer plate on it!
Almost everything is original, such as stove and refrigerator, and everything works. Look at the faucets in the bathtub. It has not been messed up with DIY remodeling, nor has it been gutted and made into a start over. There is a nice carpet, but the original tile floor is underneath. Solid floor, never a leak or softspot. The roof AC (Carrier) , and the hot water heater, have been professionally replaced a few years ago.
No "remodeling" has been done, so for better or worse, it looks just as it did in 1966. However, I tapped into the gas line, and ran a line for a modern freestanding indoor nonvented propane heater (see photo) . There is an easy shut off valve, so you can remove the heater in five minutes if you dont like it. I had professionally run a couple of 110 lines, with about three boxes each and also 12 v plug in outlet. (see photo). All the original wiring and 12 volt still works for battery use, but for the TV, Microwave, etc, it is nice to have stronger current. Never had a leak or water leak damage.
It has a built in "Mad Men" three bottle hard liquor bar! (which will hold wine bottles as well) The couch has a professionally sewed Route 66 tapestry, see picture, no wear or damage.
I have been using it for several years for my guesthouse for occasional visitors. So it is all furnished with things like indian rugs, Route 66 cups and plates, etc. I took off the holding tank, so that it drains directly to the sewer. If you want to use it for camping, you would need to put the holding tank back on. ( In this year of production, there was only one tank for grey and black water combined.) It has been tied to city water at my place, but the drinking water tank and pump still work fine.
The 1959 Rambler Ambassador Sedan pictured is also for sale for $5800. I will put a second ad just for the car in a few minutes. All original, ran when it was parked four years ago. Some rust.
You would be hard pressed to find a nicer original condition Airstream. Yes it is a little funky, as it is all original- and 50 years old. But you could tow it cross country tomorrow and use it without problem (well, except you probably would need to add the holding tank back on). It could use a good polish job.
The trailer is located near Las Cruces, New Mexico. Towing stabilization bars included, as well as the original superduty trailer hitch (see picture) . It has a 2 inch ball hitch. It tows fine- I have pulled it across the country two or three times. I used to tow it with an F-150 just fine. I have owned it for 20 years. I would tow it cross country tomorrow with no hesitation. Dual axle . Good tires.
I suppose I could drive it to Odessa or Carlsbad if you need one to live in if you are an oil field worker. Or even Albuquerque or Tucson or Houston or like that for you. If you paid the expenses. But I dont want to drive it all across the country. Of course, I am available to facilitate your haulers pickup as well. If you want to see more in real time, I could make a Facetime or Viber Video and walk thru with you to examine whatever you want.
