This RHD 1965 MK1 Lotus Cortina Alan Mann tribute was built in the early 90’s out of a very nice US spec genuine LoCort and is being offered in Sourthern Ca on behalf of Henry Mann. The Car has competed in many of the prestigious vintage racing events at many of the famous race tracks across the United States for well over 20 years. It is a well known Car in vintage racing circles. It’s been shown at Amelia island, participated in 2003 at the Monterey Historic Automobile Races and was shown in 2001 at the Ford Centenial Festival to celebrate 100 years of Ford Racing.
Engine: 185 BHP dry sumped Lotus Twin Cam. 701M Block. Dual 45MM Weber DCOE’s. Aluminum flywheel. Tilton starter. Large tube race header. Custom brass radiator. Oil cooler etc.
Transmission: Close ratio. Alloy bellhousing, tail shaft and remote shifter. Hydraulic throwout bearing. LoCort two piece driveshaft.
Suspension: Uprated Lotus front suspension with coil Springs. Non adjustable. Koni Shocks. Heavy duty front sway bar with custom mounts for added caster. Modified front crossmember for alignment and boxed in for added stiffness. Possibly an original Alan Mann piece. Lower control arms modified to accept a rod end on inner to allow camber adjustment. Front ventilated brake rotors with Lockeed racing brake calipers. Steel braid brake lines throughout. Rear standard LoCort Springs with Lotus “Works” front drop mounts again most likely from one of the original Alan Mann Cars. Limited Slip diff. Rear brake backing plates have been ventilated. Panhard rod. Poly Bushings. Drain plug added in Rear end housing.
Body: 1885 lbs. Genuine Lotus converted to RHD. Roll cage. Fire system. Driver racing seat. Passenger standard. John Player Special Momo steering wheel. Tilton Pedals. Custom dead pedal. Alloy doors, Hood and trunk. Lexan quarter windows. Glass front and rear screens. No door glass. Long range aluminum fuel tank 100% from one of the original Alan Mann Cars. Converted to fuel cell. Scuttle fill. Boot lid is fitted with Anglia hinges as they did in period. Aluminum dry sump tank in trunk as well battery and Facet electric fuel pump.
This is a great Car with a great vintage race history in the United States. Hopefully it gets bought By someone Here. I’d love to see it stay local.
