1964 Chevy School Bus Camper Americana Art Folk Food Truck RV Conversion Texas L79– 327 375hp
This survivor of a barn find bus was in Montana for the past 50+ years and it has a rare 375 horsepower 327CID engine with a manual transmission. This bus was driven to Corpus Christi last year from Montana and that alone is amazing. This bus is a moving piece of art/folk art / Americana /relic from the past that turns head all day. I"ll do what I can to describe her in absolute detail and even try to scare buyers away as we want zero disappointment. Money isn"t our biggest goal in selling this piece of history- smiles are. We don"t smile if someone"s disappointed so please read through this ad and ask any questions you may have. I"ll know more than most as to impress you upon delivery versus disappoints Engine This 327 is in the best shape I"ve seen in a few years and they only made the L79 a few years and I can"t believe it doesn"t leak heavy oil - although you can see an oily block from where an old valve cover leaked. It doesn"t leak now and there are no knocks, taps, or anything of the sort. This motor is strong, the points need to be adjusted as it misses and at high RPMs sometimes but she starts on a dime and has zero misses when starting. Transmission Has a good clutch with plenty of meat left. It is a bit hard getting into the first gear but the previous owner did it easily I may just not be that schooled in standard. So I had to pump the clutch to find the hole but it"s always there after it shifts - if you start in first with the clutch in there are no problems at all. The body is not rusted out and there is no major rot anywhere. There is surface rust here and there but no structural or floor/ frame rot or hard fixes. The condition of this old bus is why we fell in love with it as it is a survivor. The windows stick here in there and will need a few replacements. There are broken blinker lights etc., dents and scratches everywhere but overall in great condition.
This beauty could be a boutique for candles, cards, accessories, a food truck conversion, a billboard, a food trailer, or an RV conversion. The possibilities with this old reliable hull are endless. I was going to make a bunkhouse out of it if I kept it. We"re willing to trade this for a diesel truck 4 x 4 or a boat but decided to try selling on first
