Vehicle description

This beauty is a 1964 Airstream Land Yacht Safari 22 ft. single axle trailer.
THIS AUCTION DOES NOT INCLUDE THE 1957 PONTIAC SAFARI SHOWN IN SOME PHOTOS
The information we have starts when this trailer was purchased new from K & H Mobile Homes Co. in St. Joseph, Missouri on May 28, 1964. We have the original Warranty Packet and registration certificate. The original owners were members of the Wally Byam Caravan Club-Kansas Unit and they attended several rallies from 1965-1982. They collected decals which they displayed on the interior door. There aren"t many records until 1995 when they either sold or traded the Airstream to Seitz Motors in Topeka, Kansas where the 2nd owners traded in their 1968 Winnebago for the trailer. We have the Kansas Title and Registration certificate of that transaction dated 9-5-1995. We have no records between the 2nd and 3rd owners. The next paperwork we do have is a copy of the title issued 2/14/2005 showing the 3rd and 4th owners, both of whom we know personally. The 4th owner purchased the trailer in 2005 and began a total interior restoration project. We have several pictures and some receipts from his work. He, like the 1st owner, also registered with Wally Byam and I do have his letters and decals. Due to personal issues, his part of the restoration wasn"t completed and it was put into storage until I acquired it in June 2020. I began the restoration project on the outside. I have numerous pictures and receipts documenting some of the hundreds of hours of my work. Below is a list of a few of the rejuvenations we have completed - I won"t remember each and every thing we have done, so ask me if you have a question. For a 1964 Airstream, you will be hard pressed to find another one that has had as much heart and care put into it. The entire trailer has been mirror polished-including the custom made front window stone guard I purchased and polished the aluminum slotted wheels made by Western Wheel that are specifically designed for Airstream and very hard to find. New tires including a new tire mounted on the original steel wheel with the original hubcap for the spare Tongue, rear bumper & entry step stripped, epoxy primed & painted with base coat/clear coat New window weatherstrip New kitchen countertop Windows are tinted. All windows have the original cranks and closers except one that was broken and needed replaced I have the original Airstream dolly wheel chock/jack pad which I also mirror polished The interior was fully restored. New bright white paint. Seating was re-done by the 4th owner. Handcrafted window shades. Floor stripped and waxed to a high sheen New water pump and all new water lines 5 gallon electric water heater 110 electric hookup New Kitchen & Bath faucets New 110 electric fireplace in custom built cabinet. This replaced the original, dilapidated oven. It has 2 settings, flame with heat or flame without heat. It creates a very cozy, comfortable place to relax. Wheel bearings have all been packed and the electric brakes are in working order Replaced damaged skylights with permanently fixed and tinted coverings I have the old school equalizer hitch set up Kitchen and Bathroom sink and tub faucets run hot and cold and the toilet works as it should Refrigerator works Air conditioner blows cold Original lighting Dining table can be used with or without 2 leaves Original pull out drawers under front seating area Lots of overhead storage, broom closet and decent storage in the bathroom Original window screens included - most in need of repair Exterior lights work with the exception of the porch light next to the Jalousie window
Please remember - this is a 1964 Airstream. . . it is in no way perfect. There are bumps and bruises or I should say "beauty marks" which give it amazing character and charm. There are hail dimples from a past storm.
