Up for auction is our 1962 Shasta Compact 10ft camper. This is a wonderfully maintained, original camper. Interior birch wood is in good condition, but not perfect (see pictures). There is an older (from probably 20+ years ago) rippling imperfection near the back window and around ceiling vent. The damage is minimal and did not warrant replacement. All windows and vents have been removed and resealed. The camper does not leak and has not leaked for decades. Some upgrades to the camper include new period correct flooring, nicely installed air conditioning, professionally re-covered dinette cushions, vintage boomerang counter tops and table tops and curtains nicely made from vintage fabric.
Dinette folds down into a KING sized bed, or fold one side down for a twin bed and couch combination. Factory installed propane lantern works well. The stove works as it should, but the oven is currently non-functional and is used for storage. The icebox is also used for storage. The Shasta has a deep cycle marine battery mounted on the tongue, which powers several 12 volt lights and cigarette lighter/charging plugs on the campers interior for camping "off the grid". The air conditioner keeps the camper ice-cold and was installed in a way that does not detract from the camper"s look of originality. AC has a well made steel mounting rack inside the camper and a custom made stainless steel cover that slides in channels on the exterior. It is covered by a period correct aluminum jalousie. The closet in the camper houses a small porta-potty toilet on a built in, but easily removable wooden platform. We have never used the toilet but it is there in-case of emergencies. Comes with 2 table tops. One narrow and one full size. Both tables are interchangeable and can be used either inside or outside on the curbside under awning (see pictures). Perfect for outside dining. Also installed curbside is a quick detach lantern hanger that hangs on a period correct channel.
Shasta includes custom individual window awnings, professionally made, for quick installation for one-night trips. Full 10 foot blue and white vintage canvas awning and poles are also included. The exterior has few blemishes. In the front, diamond plate custom made rock shield installed to prevent rock dings. Previous owner had installed stainless steel screws along bottom for apparent decoration (minimally noticeable, but worth a mention for completeness).
The Shasta tows easily with any vehicle. With a weight around 1,000 lbs, it can be towed by a vintage automobile with ease or even with today"s compacts. Counter weights have been inconspicuously added to the tongue and add to ease of towability . 1 7/8 ball hitch. Tires are new and has new full size spare mounted on rear bumper. Camper is set up for both city water hookup and hand-pump from 5 gallon holding tank and 5 gallon grey water containers under the sink. Can send additional pictures if desired. Feel free to ask any questions, I"m sure there are things I have forgotten but cant think of them now. We are only selling to upgrade to a larger camper since our family of four does not quite fit comfortably inside anymore. You will not be disappointed with this 55 year old camper. It is ready for the summer and fall camping season. Hook on and head for the campground.
