Vehicle description
The Astrodome model is the rarest of the iconic Shasta campers. In addition to being a collectible that"s getting pricier by the year, it sleeps two more people than the regular Shasta "canned ham" camper.
The Astrodome model was made 1961-1964. The inside looks great though it could use new linoleum. It"s all been nicely repainted.
Original cabinetry, original working stove, almost-working original refrigerator and more. We installed a classic 60"s dinette table to fold down into a platform with the bench cushions extending into a nice twin bed, and the upper bed is a quality twin mattress, possibly the original, in excellent shape and super comfortable. So it sleeps four comfortably.
The bathrooms upper enclosure and toilet was removed some time ago but all the relevant hardware is still there. The wiring has been altered over the years but wiring harness and signals work fine.
We"ve camped in it several times and it tows and sleeps great. This one"s main issue is cosmetic- the aluminum on the sides is in fairly rough shape. But it is solid, leak-free, rodent-proof, and the roof is perfect. Original louvered windows work well. Newly restored and sealed front top window. The jack and propane lines have been upgraded recently. The paint on the outside is mostly stripped, ready to polish to a shine or restore & paint.
It"s a rare, eye-catching piece of history and the right skills and some time could make it even better. Title is perfect, currently registered in Colorado. Please
