I have done a lot of research on this model trailer and its history.
I have spent numerous hours looking this model up as it is rare and hard to find.
My research shows this was quite possibly the only custom ordered 1960 World Traveler, 22’ Tandem Axle built in CA in December 1959. What throws everyone off is the Dual Axle on a 19’ Body which is factory from Airstream and designed to go overseas on Safari, hence the Dual Axle, Leaf Springs and Beefier Frame.
It was delivered to a dealer named Travelon in Fresno, CA and has stayed there all its life in the dry climate.
This model was discontinued at the end of the 1959, so it is believed this was the last one in CA.
Research shows thru WBCCI that this would bring that we know built to 14 between 1957 and 1960, 10 in Ohio and this would be the 4th in California.
The WBCCI #3285 seems to have participated on a Canadian Caravan in 1967 and a Mexican Caravan in 1969.
There is so much history on these rare trailers and really hard to put a price tag on something like this.
Based on how good the condition is inside and outside, plus so many features that cookie cutter Airstreams do not have and researching rare Airstreams this is a barn find.
The Frame is beefier than a normal one, the interior lights work and water pump, has a new battery to run lights, Interior is in good condition for its age but could use some work. Needs new seat/bed cushions even though the covers are good. Has good tires and rims, bearings are fine as I towed it with no issues. The exterior body is in good shape with the exception of the dent/scrape on the front curbside, i can put a full patch on this and the other side to match if needed. The rear window glass was broken and we can replace. The belly pan is in great shape and being this was stored in Fresno all its life it has no rust. If needed this can be polished before delivery.
Let me know if you have any questions as it is definitely one of a kind
