THIS AIRPLANE STARTED LIFE AS A PA-22-150 TRIPACER.
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH A TRIPACER, IT IS A 4 PLACE AIRPLANE WITH 2 DOORS, (ONE FRONT RIGHT AND THE OTHER REAR LEFT), FOR EASY ENTRY AND EXIT.
IT FLIES FASTER THAN THE EQUIVALENT CHEROKEE WHICH FOLLOWED IT IN PRODUCTION.
THE TRIPACER WAS MORE MODERN IN EVERY WAY THAN THE CUB DERIVATIVES THAT PROCEEDED IT ( 4 PLACE NOT 2, BAGGAGE AREA, REAL HEATER, REAL DOORS, CROSS-COUNTRY CAPABLE, FULL DASH, ETC.)
BUT IT’S NOT TERRIBLY SEXY! ! ! !
THE TAILDRAGGER PILOTS OF THE DAY CALLED IT A FLYING MILKSTOOL!
BUT OVER TIME, THERE HAS BEEN A RESURGENCE IN INTEREST IN DEMAND FOR THE PURER, MUCH MORE ATTRACTIVE “PACER”, WHICH IS A TRI-PACER WITH A TAILWHEEL!
THE CONVERSION AT IT SIMPLEST REPLACES THE GEAR LEGS AND REMOVES THE NOSEGEAR FOR A TAILWHEEL, BUT THAT ISN’T ENOUGH!
THE TRIPACER, LIKE THE EARLY CHEROKEES THAT FOLLOWED USED A “JOHNSON BAR” BRAKE HANDLE THAT APPLIED BRAKING EVENLY TO BOTH BRAKES AT THE SAME TIME. THIS SYSTEM WOULD NOT WORK FOR A TAILDRAGGER, WHICH REQUIRES INDEPENDENT, DIFFERENTIAL BRAKING.
SO THIS AIRCRAFT ALSO HAS THE TOEBRAKES ADDED, AND NOT JUST ONE SIDE, BUT BOTH, SO BOTH FRONT SEATERS CAN DO THE FLYING!
AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS, THIS IS A GOOD LOOKING PACER!

THE ENTIRE DAMAGE IS TO THE RIGHT AILERON (SCRAPED SPOT UNDERNEATH, SLIGHT DENT IN THE OUTBOARD EDGE METAL AND TRAILING EDGE METAL IS SLIGHTLY WAVY) AND TO THE METAL TIP BOW AT THE TRAILING EDGE OF THE RIGHT WINGTIP.
THAT IS IT, TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY!
NOT AN IN MOTION OR RUNNING ACCIDENT, NO DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLOR OR SUPER LOW TIME ENGINE!
NO DAMAGE TO THE WING SPARS OR RIBS, THE FABRIC IS NICE AND TIGHT ALL OVER.

I WOULD SERIOUSLY CONSIDER DOING A TEMPORARY PATCH REPAIR TO THE TIP BOW TO FERRY THIS AIRPLANE TO YOUR LOCATION. THE AILERON APPEARS TO BE STRUCTURALLY FINE FOR FERRY AS-IS. LAST ANNUAL JUST PERFORMED ON THIS AIRPLANE JANUARY OF 2020, SO IT IS LEGALLY IN ANNUAL UNTIL 2/1/2021!
DO THE REPAIR TO THE BOW AND AILERON AND YOU ARE LEGAL INTO NEXT YEAR!
THE GLASS ON THIS AIRPLANE HAS BEEN RECENTLY REPLACED AND APPEARS AS NEW.
THE PAINT IS A GOOD 20 FOOTER, BUT IF YOU GET CLOSE YOU WILL SEE THAT THE EDGES OF THE WHITE PAINT HAVE OPENED UP, SO TO KEEP THE PAINT SMOOTH, THE OWNER HAS DONE TOUCHUPS ALONG THESE SEAMS, AND THE TOUCHUPS SHOW SLIGHTLY OFF COLOR.
