1958 CESSNA 172 AIRFRAME, 8765TT, NO CRASH, WIND DAM TO WINGS ONLY, CHEAP! THE 1956-1959 172 IS A TRICYCLE GEAR 4 SEAT AIRCRAFT, LIKE ALL 172’S, BUT THESE MODELS HAVE THE STRAIGHT (NON-SWEPT) VERTICAL TAIL AND FASTBACK ROOFLINE, GIVING THEM A MORE “CLASSIC” LOOK. THE FLIGHT CHARECTERISTICS ARE AS GOOD AS THE SWEPT TAIL, AND THE 56-59 AIRCRAFT ARE THE LIGHTEST OF THE BREED! THIS AIRCRAFT WAS NOT IN A CRASH! TIED DOWN OUTSIDE DURING A HIGH WIND EVENT, THE ROPES WERE LOOSE ENOUGH TO ALLOW BOTH WINGTIPS TO HIT THE GROUND, ONE AFTER THE OTHER! THE DAMAGE IS VISIBLE ON THE OUTBOARD SECTION OF EACH WING, IN THE FAR OUTBOARD PORTION THAT WAS DESIGNED BY CESSNA AS THE “BREAK AWAY”, OR EASIER TO REPLACE OUTBOARD PANELS. KNOWING THAT HANGER RASH AND SMALLER IMPACT HAPPENS USUALLY FAR OUTBOARD, THE CESSNA ENGINEERS MADE THE OUTBOARD SECTION OF EACH WING WITH SEPARATE PANELS, SO THAT THE MAIN WING SKINS WOULD NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR DAMAGE OUT HERE. THE RIGHT WING IS HURT ON THIS EXTENSION, AS WELL AS THE OUTBOARD SECTION OF THE AILERON AND THE METAL TIP. THE LEFT WING IS HURT ON THE EXTENSION, BUT THE AILERON AND TIP ARE UNDAMAGED. BOTH WINGS HAVE SOME DEFORMATION ON THE FAR INBOARD AREA AS WELL, SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS WE HAVE PROVIDED. THE LEFT HAS ONLY A FAINT RIPPLE ON THE LOWER SKIN, THE RIGHT SHOWS RIPPLING ON THE TRAILING EDGE NEAR THE FUEL TANK. THESE AREAS NEED TO BE FULLY INSPECTED BY REMOVING THE FUEL TANKS TO DETERMINE IF THEY ARE NEW DAMAGE THAT REQUIRES ADDRESSING, OR JUST ACCUMULATION FROM LANDINGS OVER THE LAST 60 YEARS OF USE. AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE PHOTOS, THE REST OF THE ENTIRE AIRCRAFT IS UNHARMED! THERE IS A FAINT WRINKLE ON THE TRAILING EDGE OF THE RIGHT ELEVATOR THAT WAS PRE-EXISTING AND DOES NOT AFFECT FLIGHT, BUT THE AIRPLANE SUSTAINED NO OTHER DAMAGE! THE FUSELAGE IS TOTALLY STRAIGHT, WITH NO FIREWALL OR GEARBOX DAMAGE, NO NOSEGEAR OR MAIN GEAR DAMAGE AND NO CABIN OR TAILCONE DAMAGE! WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE ELEVATOR AND RIGHT AILERON MENTIONED ALREADY, ALL OF THE CONTROL SURFACES AND THE TAIL ASSEMBLY IS UNDAMAGED. NO COWLING DAMAGE, UPPER OR LOWER! THE GLASS IS ALL FINE. THE DOORS FIT WELL. INSIDE, THE TAN SEATS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. ALL FLIGHT AND ENGINE INSTRUMENTATION IS INSTALLED AND INCLUDED, AS SHOWN. TRAYS ARE INSTALLED AND WIRED FOR A KING NAV-COM AND GARMIN TRANSPONDER, BUT THE PANEL UNITS THEMSELVES ARE NOT INCLUDED HERE.
