“A former owner painted the shell many years ago. The paint can be stripped, and the shell is in good condition under the paint with very few minor dents and blemishes. The previous owner started to strip the paint on the front end cap. The end caps are in excellent condition under the paint. This trailer would look amazing polished. All windows are in need of replacement. We would suggest having them custom cut at Lowe's where the price is low (approximately $40 a window) and the quality is good. The interior is gutted including the subfloor. This is a candidate for a frame off restoration. The frame will need to be stripped, sand blasted and powder coated as it has rust. It is not totally rusted out. It will need new tires to get it home. We can assist with repacking the bearings for $350 and can install new tires for $350. It can be towed as it is but we would suggest trailering it home.” |

COVID NOTICE: As an essential business, we are open for you. In order to better serve our customers, we are offering free delivery of this unit up to 75 miles from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Additional miles will be charged at $2.50 a mile (round trip). We are also offering up to 3 months of free storage in the event that you want to purchase this unit and store it for a while. If you need to store it for more than 3 months, we charge $50 a month. - - - - Up for auction at no reserve is a vintage, gutted single axle 1958 19" Airstream Pacer .
The Pacer model is known for its small size and ability to get into National Parks that larger Airstreams can"t. It is distinguished from the Bambi & Bambi II by its slightly larger and more spacious interior (2 feet more). The Pacer is the predecessor to the Bambi, which was modeled off of it.
With a total length of only 18 feet, this Airstream would be great for camping in national parks as it is below the length requirements. Due to its very light weight of under 2,500 pounds, practically any vehicle with a towing package can pull it comfortably.
A former owner painted the shell many years ago. The paint can be stripped, and the shell is in good condition under the paint with very few minor dents present that look like they can be easily removed. They are visible in the pictures but not very noticeable. The previous owner started to strip the paint on the front end cap. We are told that it came off relatively easily using Aircraft Grade Aluminum Stripper.
The end caps are in great, dent free condition under the paint. This trailer would look amazing after being stripped and polished. All windows are in need of replacement. We would suggest having them custom cut at Lowes where the price is low (approximately $40 a window) and the quality is good.
The interior is gutted including the subfloor. This is a candidate for a frame off restoration. The frame will need to be stripped, sand blasted and powder coated as it has rust. May need some new steel welded into the frame in spots. However, it is not totally rusted out and could be salvaged. The hard work of gutting the trailer is already done and it is ready to be lifted off of the frame.
The underbelly has some damage, visible in the pictures. It is missing the "door within the door" which will need to be salvaged or fabricated. It is also missing the access door near the entrance door.
It will need new tires to get it home if towed. We can assist with repacking the bearings for $350 and can install new tires for $350. It can be towed as it is but we would suggest having it trailered it home rather than towing it.
This trailer is a sleeper due to its ugly paint job, but under the surface it is a beauty just waiting to be restored. It has a history too, as it was sold by us many, many years ago (and still has faded Berning Trailer Sales stickers).
We do also have this trailer listed for sale locally and we reserve the right to end the auction early in the event that it sells. Feel free to call Nathan at (260) 498-3415 and make an offer.
Clean and clear title in hand. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required within 24 hours of auction end, via eBay. We try to be as descriptive as possible in the listing but we"re glad to answer any questions or show the trailer, which is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The trailer is in AS IS condition - you can call Nathan at (260) 498-3415 with any questions. FULL PAYMENT IS DUE VIA WIRE TRANSFER OR CASHIER"S CHECK WITHIN 7 DAYS OF AUCTION END. - - - - Berning Trailer Sales is your home for vintage Airstreams.
