Vehicle description

Greetings, This is a relisting because the winning bidder failed to execute the transaction.
We are selling our 1957 Airstream with shell off full frame-up restoration. The gleaming hand-polished exterior is only the first hint that this trailer is truly special. It turns heads and is a crowd pleaser to all who see her. Step inside to a cheery, bright interior with custom designs everywhere you look. She is ready for her next chapter in life.
Originally hand built in California by post WWII airplane and outdoor enthusiasts, it is an iconic piece of timeless American craftsmanship . It is a one of a kind project that began in California when she was recovered from a family reluctant to sell after lovingly caring for it until they could no longer do so. We bought it and was immediately offered a tidy sum as she was pulled out from between the two buildings that had sheltered it for years even though it was completely gutted, had several large holes in the floor, and broken windows. For me, it was love at first sight.
I took the trailer to Texas to an expert in shell off full frame recovery and completed the frame restoration, which was overall in great original condition. We still made the decision to install extensive future protections. We installed new axles with increased weight capacity, brakes assemblies and all new towing connections. We also purchased new wheels and high-performance trailer tires. The trailer has an all new foundation and with an upgraded weight capacity and designed around a four-inch lift to provide better ground clearance. After the structural work, we had all new electrical with harness installed and all new plumbing including new waste tanks and a new fresh water tank. All exterior lights were replaced with LED lighting while maintaining the vintage look. We then transported the trailer to a fifth-generation carpenter in Oklahoma City. We designed the floor plan layout based upon our ideal experiences with other Airstreams and collaborated with this brilliant carpenter for custom built cabinetry throughout the trailer. The dual counter surfaces in the kitchen are wonderful features, not to mention the additional storage. The carpenter’s creativity and amazing refinements really make this trailer special. There are self-closing drawers and cabinet doors throughout. A thoughtfully designed closet with shoe stalls, easy to lift doors for under seat storage, retractable spice rack just to name a few. There is a good deal of practical storage throughout the trailer. The living area has a combined surround seating dining and living area. The table is adjustable for coffee table height to dining height and anywhere in between. The bedroom has a full/queen bed with under bed storage and the bathroom has a new Dometic porcelain toilet and storage for basic needs. The trailer is loaded with many surprise features that make her very special. From spice cabinets to medicine cabinets to beautiful décor features this has been a labor of love. The trailer also features Magic Fans - variable speed, self-closing, reversible ceiling fans. The last phase of this rebuild relied on experts and friends to install appliances, state of the art electrical panel and outlets, quality fixtures, designer lighting, cabinet pulls and handles, and historical and thematic décor. The Airstream metal badges have been installed. One gem in this trailer is the original, 1957 California license plate that is carefully and centrally framed. A quick recap: this trailer has new electrical, plumbing, water & waste tanks, water heater, cabinets, fixtures, and lighting throughout. The frame, sub-floor, and base floor are all brand new. The exterior lighting is brand new except for the original rear classic pancake lights that have newly installed interior housings. The windows and doors work perfectly and lock smoothly. The tongue has a brand new over-engineered electric lift with loading lights. This trailer was designed as a practical over the road and off-road trailer with completely sealed underbelly. Is has an additional 4 inches of ground clearance. It is light weight and can be pulled by any regular SUV, van or small truck. The new axles, however, allow this trailer to carry more weight than other trailers of this era if that is something you need. Please note this trailer is designed with all electrical features in order to be compatible with a solar power source. It travels with a full sized and new marine grade battery and carries with it a full and powerful Lithium electric generator and portable solar panels. It comes with an onboard infrared cook top and copper pans, small lockable mounted refrigerator, and nice microwave. It has instant on hot water tank and full sized electrical convertors for camping via an electric cord to 30amp hookup. There are outlets and USB ports everywhere. Lighting works on 12 volts and 110-volt systems. We have now installed an beautiful marine grade exterior shower system. This journey began four years ago and things have changed for me during this time. I will not be able to enjoy or use this trailer and it is a very sad thing for me. But, after encouragement from family and friends, I came to realize someone will truly love her…so I am selling her. I will never recover the amount of money that I have put into her. The reserve is just an effort at being a good steward and to make sure that she goes to someone who will truly appreciate her. I will be donating a portion of proceeds to a worthy organization assisting families recovering from the wildfires in California. This trailer was built in California and no matter where she ends up, someone in California will be blessed. Thanks for considering. I will be happy to deliver her to the winning bidder, if able, for a small fee. Otherwise, the winning bidder is responsible for pick-up. She is a great piece of American History and ready for her next chapter. Based upon some past questions here is some more information: - She sleeps four via convertible front seating area. Full size.
- Granite countertops in kitchen and bathroom - Deep kitchen sink
- Built in cabinet for small, flat screen TV that will keep it secure when traveling. - Small, fold-out desk for laptop or tablet use in the sitting area - All Kohler fixtures - Replaced glass in windows
- A low profile air conditioner can be easily added if requested by winning bidder at cost (approx $800.00).
We are also listing this trailer locally and can cancel the auction at any time should we receive an acceptable offer.
