Vehicle description
For sale is this 1956 Airstream Safari 22". It was originally sold in North Platte, Nebraska and then to Torrington and Lingle, Wyoming where a couple used it for many years to go elk hunting. The trailer is in remarkably original condition as can be seen in the photos. The improvements that I have made are (all in 2018): new dinette pads with firm high grade foam new tires mounted on original rims new sub floor laid over the existing sub floor. (I did not not do a top off installation since most of the original floor was fine. The upper 25% of the floor in the kitchen area has water damage. It is fine and stable now with new floor over the top but someone with more time on their hands could replace the whole thing, if desired.) new linoleum floor new curtains
The serial number is 6325. Interior The oven works and looks never to have been used. The stove top burners work great with no issues. The original Panel Ray Heater furnace works perfectly well and heats the trailer up quickly. The refrigerator is not original and I have not hooked it up. The belly pan is in good shape for its age. The original Humphrey gas lamp is there and works well. All lights work on the original electrical system. I believe the original countertop and sink which are in good shape. Wood cabinets, drawers, etc are in excellent shape age considering. This comes with the bunk option (looks factory done but I don"t know for certain). I have not hooked up the water but the copper lines would need to be replaced. Wet bath is in good original condition with original fixtures but again, no water has been hooked up. Original Zolotone paint is in excellent condition. Exterior Lights and windows are in good shape Back curbside window will not close all the way. I have taped it shut with aluminum tape. No discernable leaks from vents or anywhere else Some dents as can be seen in photos Curbside service compartment directly opposite of fridge looks to have a replacement door. One pane on street side window has a crack that looks to have come from a bb or rock. Door has dent that could probably be taken out fairly easily. Door shuts but is hard to latch. Screen door portion is in good shape. I don"t have a key for the trunk but it is open and I have to bungee it shut. Hitch and propane tank apparatus work fine.
This is a rare and beautiful trailer in great original condition for those who want to restore this even further or have a vintage functional Airstream the way it is. Please ask questions as I am sure I am leaving out some details.
