Vehicle description

1953 Ford F500 Dump Truck 239 C.I. 1953 Flathead V-8 4 Speed Manual Transmission with granny 3.5 Ton Dump Bed Approximately 50,000 miles Clear title Minor rust Runs Great! This truck is being sold AS-IS with no warranty. This is a wonderful old truck that would be a good restoration project or fun to play with just as it is! It would be a great vehicle to promote a business as it always draws a crowd and gets a lot of attention wherever it goes. There are very few 1953 F500 trucks still running and on the road these days! The vehicle was originally located in Clarksville, TN. where it spent most of its life as a farm truck until I bought it in 2015. It is currently registered in North Carolina and works great. The vehicle was partially restored by a previous owner around 1996. I"ve done a lot of work to the truck since I"ve owned it and I have a collection of parts and lots of documentation & manuals that go with the truck. Electrical: It has been converted into a 12 volt system. It has an alternator and the original starter. In 2018 it was completely rewired from front to back and upgraded with fuse blocks and LED lighting in the dashboard. The truck has also been upgraded with vintage back-up lights and a modern back-up alarm. The back-up lights are activated by a durable inductive proximity switch and relay. Engine: It is a 1953 239 C.I. Ford Flathead. It starts and runs great. Well maintained with frequent oil changes. I can tell by the castings of the cylinder heads that the engine must have been replaced sometime in its past as the heads carry the markings for a passenger car. The engine is period correct for the truck except for the cylinder heads. No major modifications have been done to the engine. Rear Differential: The rear end was rebuilt in 2016 and has a new pinion and ring gear. Disregard the nameplate data stating it has a 6.8 gear ratio, this was changed to 6.2 by the replacement pinion and ring gear so it now runs a little better at higher speeds. Brakes: All of the brake shoes were replaced I purchased the truck in 2015, very few miles have been driven since then, (only short local trips). I replaced all 4 rear wheel cylinders, and brake hoses, and the main metal lines. The master cylinder was rebuilt, and the brake booster was has been replaced with a remanufactured brake booster. Body: There is some Bondo noticeable on the front lip of the hood. It is cracked from sitting in the weather. There are NO major Bondo fills on this truck other than the Hood lip and the driver’s side door, which should probably be replaced. The door is the same door that fits in an F-100 and is readily available as an aftermarket part. Truck bed: The dump bed operates and works, and the back gate can be adjusted to spread gravel, or it will fold down on the lock hinges and operate like a normal tail gate. It is a 3.5 Ton dump bed and will hold approximately 3.5 cu yards easily, or 4 cu yards topped off.
