Vehicle description
Offered by Pioneer Vintage Trailer is a 1950 Airstream Clipper that is only 18" long. We have done a complete restoration on the trailer thus far. We are looking for a new owner to finish the interior themselves or contract us to build you a beautiful new interior just the way you dreamed to go along with the restored exterior. Such a gorgeous trailer and very very hard to come by. We are a custom shop and wanted to let the new owner decide which route to take the rest of the restoration. No interior pics as it is completely empty inside. We do have some of the sheet metal cabinets that were still inside when we purchased it a few years back. The original interior metal "skins" were there but in rough shape. Check out our site to see our work. Let me know if you need any more info ( Serious Buyers only please, don"t waste both our time) Thank You
A little history- The 18" pipe-frame Trailwind gets renamed the "Clipper" by Airstream in 1950, as Curtis-Wright gets sold to Silver-Streak and the rights to the Wally"s beloved clipper name reverts back to Wally Byam. As you see this is the first year Airstream gets the rights to the "Clipper" name back after a court battle with Silver-Streak for the name. We own a 1947 Silver Streak Clipper as well, so its funny how that worked out and having the 2 trailers involved in that. Our research shows only 4 or 5 of these trailers that are left to exist in the States. Sorry for the ramble. Current updates that have been done to the trailer include:
* Professionally Polished exterior * Lots of new 2024-T3 Alclad exterior aluminum panels * New torsion axle and brakes * Rebuilt Pipe frame with extra supports added * New fender skirts * Rebuilt original roof vents * California Built * Rebuilt all the windows with seals * New marine plywood subfloor * New tail light, will install turn signals on buyers preference
