This is an extremely rare and hard-to-find vintage Airstream trailer - a 1949 Trailwind (#5022). There were not many that were made and let alone survived over the last 70 years. Very few models exist today and even fewer become available for sale. There are some amazing examples that have been restored and often once finished, go to museums and private collections, rarely to be seen again. Henry Ford"s museum has this exact model in it"s museum. Theses prime examples have sold between $45-70K over the years.
The Trailwind has been stored away for many years and it"s time to find it a new home. The trailer needs restoration and attention, it is not perfect but it has good bones and is a great candidate for restoration. The skins have various dents and dings, to be expected of a trailer 70 years old and stored away in northern snow country. The flooring of the trailer doesn"t have typical floor rot or tons of water damage, usually seen in older trailers. The windows and seals did a pretty good job keeping the rain and snow out all these years.
The interior walls will also need attention during restoration. The original ice box, sink, and counter is included. It appears to have been painted at one time but could be easily stripped down to the stainless. It will need some minor structure repair to the back of it. Original cabinets located on each end under windows are included. The heater pictured is not original but will be included with the purchase.
The trailer is incredibly light and easy to move. The tires will hold air for some time but would not recommend using them for towing long distance. The tongue jack will not move up or down as it has a slight bend.
$1,500 non-refundable deposit will be due upon a sale, made through PayPal. The remaining balance is due within 7 days and can be made via cash, money order, or cashier"s check. Payment must be cleared before shipment or pickup. The trailer can stored for 30 days at no charge. After the 30 days, storage will be at a rate of $50 a month. If needed, assistance can be provided in loading of the trailer if transporting it. Shipping company needs to be responsible for securing the trailer to a transport.
