Vehicle description
1948 Diamond t truck. Condition is Used. The model is 201, Vin number 2014956, the most popular version of this line of trucks, rare with likely total production from 1938 to 1949 of just under 7000. The first truck produced by this Chicago company was in 1911, switching from car production to exclusive truck lines. They produced primarily over the road, construction and military trucks.
They were produced with emphasis on top quality, strong running gear, and unusual styling for trucks in a time when that was not a focus of other manufacturers. Company owner Charles Tilt believed trucks did not have to be simply utilitarian and ugly. This has a low profile roof line with large chrome grille and classic T emblem.
This truck was a farm truck owned by two brothers living near Norwood Young America MN. It came to me from a nephew who either bought or inherited it from the original owners. I have owned it since 2003. The engine was overhauled in late 2015, It is a 6 cylinder Hercules QXLD3 engine, 237 cubic inches, rated at 91 hp. The body is solid, Paint is good, not perfect, The box has been redone, has a strong metal bottom but with some dents. Speedometer does not work so I don"t know actual mileage. Heat gauge also does not work, oil pressure and ammeter do work. Gas gauge works but is not accurate. Has a 4 speed R-9 Warner non-synchromesh transmission. Has full set of large grain box sides and with rear panel.
Shipping is at buyers expense. I will coordinate pickup. I reserve the right to sell locally.
I invite questions, do not want to deceive any potential buyers.
