Up for auction is a classic, WWII Dodge Weapons Carrier that has been restored as an Air Transportable. In short, it comes apart so it can be loaded into a C-46 or C-47 aircraft. The air transportable, or "flying trucks" were invented in the Port Moresby area of Papau New Guinea by USAAF Quartermaster Lieutenants, Ron Bagley and Joe Berman. The original design was on the 2 1/2 ton, CCKW, "Jimmys", and and those trucks played a critical role in the defense of New Guinea. After they proved the concept, they were sent to Australia to convert 150 more Jimmys as well as 150 Dodge WC-51/2"s, using the same basic design. This truck was restored, using copies of the original manuals developed by Bagley and Berman in the Southwest Pacific Area. THIS TRUCK IS NOT ONE OF THE ONES FROM AUSTRALIA.
The truck up for auction was converted and restored by taking the original truck and making the conversion during its frame off restoration. A second parts truck was extensively used to increase the amount of original parts used during this restoration. This truck was shown at the 2011, Military Vehicle Preservation Association National convention in Dayton Ohio, where it won the Oregon, Award For Excellence. It was also displayed at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, PA for most of 2015, participating in that organizations celebration of the end of WWII. It was shown in partial tear down.
The truck was fully restored and is driven in the local Veterans Day Parade as well as being displayed at other community events. It also comes with a clear Pennsylvania title.
My purpose for selling it now is that time is catching up with me and it is time to start reducing the collection.
The buyer is responsible for pick up and/or all shipping costs and arrangements. While we will assist in loading the vehicle, it is the buyers responsibility to figure how to get it home.

I have had several questions pertaining to the engine. The engine is a rebuilt Dodge/Chrysler 230 Cubic Inch displacement, flat head, 6 cylinder, gasoline engine. The 3/4 ton Dodge WC"s for the most part were all equipped with this type of engine. Our goal in restoration was to bring it back to as close as possible, to qualify for a Motor Pool Ready Restoration. I have attached two new pictures showing the engine during the restoration.
