Vehicle description
1930 American LaFrance “Metropolitan” Type 245 pumper . VIN No. 7120. Shipped to Omaha, Nebraska July 17, 1930 , one of three purchased at the start of the great depression. Older re storation . 12 volt electrical system. Chain driven. Gravity fuel system. Six cylinder engine with 1,000 GPM pump. Truck has s pent the last 25 years stored in side various warehouse s in Humble, Texas . It is now sitting in a driveway waiting for its new owner to pick it up. It ran when we purchased it, but has been parked the last six years due to cracked jugs (two of six) that allow coolant into the crankcase. I tried to start it a few weeks ago without success. Brakes are dry and won’t stop the truck. Gears are sluggish to shift. Pump had some corroded parts when purchased , and I’ve never tried to pump . This truck is an e xcellent candidate for re storation . No ladders originally came with the truck, but I have an extra ladder set that I will provide with the truck. No bell came with the truck, either, but the original bell mount is bolted to passenger side . Strong Darley siren. Driver side rear tire inner tube has a n air leak. One b umper bracket is cracked. I have some original paperwork, and the original “build” specs for this and it’s two sister trucks. Weight – 1 4 ,000 pounds per weigh ticket , W88 ” x H88” x L23’ . Truck has Texas Title.
