19 18 American LaFrance Type 40 Combination. Vin No. 2073. Shipped to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa on May 2, 1918. Unrestored . Wooden wheels with retro pneumatic tire kit , chain driven, right hand driver , gravity fuel system . Chemical tank removed in 1932 and 500 gallon pump installed by Nott- Waterous Company. Original four cylinder engine . All jugs appear to be intact. Truck has s pent the last 25 years stored in side various warehouse s in Humble, Texas . For the last 12 years it has been a static display for a children’s birthday party service. It is now sitting in a neighbor’s garage waiting for its new owner to pick her up. I rebuilt the carb when I got the truck 25 years ago , changed the fluids and got the truck running. I tried to start the truck a few weeks ago and it fired, but it would not stay run ning . New gas tank and new carriage seat (frame only). I still have the gas tank that was on the truck when I bought it. Gears are sluggish to shift. I’ve never tried to pump . Bell and crank siren included, but I’ll have to find the crank siren. I boxed it when I closed my company, and will have to locate it. No ladders originally came with the truck . Sheet metal on the truck is original, with drilled holes from prior equipment mounting . Truck appears to have been hit on the driver’s rear corner, as back board and fender are slightly crumpled. Nozzle depicted in some of the photos is not a part of this sale. Truck is sold with a Bill of Sale. Seller reserves the right to sell the truck locally . Truck is presently advertised elsewhere for expeditious sale. Truck must be ret rieved within five days of sale. We closed our party business and truck must be moved. Or, we can arrange for it to be store d l ocally if you agree to pay the additional storage expense .
