Vehicle description

If you have ever dreamed of owning a rare, number matching, soft and hard top, 4 speed, Red / White 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray. . This is it. After 41 years, my father has finally realized it is time to let this go to a new home where it will be loved and treasured. Feel free to ask questions and I will get with him and answer them on his behalf. My father purchased this in 1981 to restore. This was his ideal model and year, because it is the year he graduated from high school. He spent most of the 80"s working on it. Finished it around 1989, just in time for me to drive it to my senior prom in the spring of 1990. Mileage shows about 85000. I"m not positive, but I would guess it has had no more than 3K miles on it since completion.
1. Body was stripped down to the gelcoat and repainted with correct acrylic lacquer. Still has and comes with part of a gallon of the original lacquer paint that was used. 2. There was a little fiberglass damage on the left quarter that was repaired but body was in overall good condition. 3. The entire interior was redone/replaced with Al Knoch products. 4. Engine was rebuilt and balanced in 2009. Bored .040. Has a Chevy 350HP cam. TRW forged aluminum pistons. All rods, bearings, valves and valve springs replaced and all valve seats were hardened. Oil pump was replaced. Crankshaft was balanced. My father believes one of the heads was replaced prior to him owning it. Engine sounds and runs strong. 5. Dash cluster and clock were sent off and restored correctly. 6. Wiring was gone thru and re-taped for a clean original look. 7. Entire exhaust system was replaced with OEM parts. 8. Bumpers were replaced with OEM bumpers. 9. Emblems and badges were all replaced. 10. Radiator replaced with Harrison OEM radiator. 11. Headlights rotate and function properly. Motors were rebuilt. 12. Wipers work. 13. Expansion tank is original also. 14. Carb numbers match as does the distributor. Carb was rebuilt about 3 years ago. Has correct Dual snorkel air cleaner. 15. Transmission is the original M20 4 speed. It shifts perfect. 16. 4 wheel disc brakes. Brakes just checked and serviced in December of 2021 17. Has stainless steel calipers with DOT5 fluid. Brake lines were all replaced. 18. Heat shields underneath were all replaced. All electrical shielding was replaced. 19. White convertible top was replaced with correct Al Knoch top. 20. All trim and weather stripping was replaced. 21. Aftermarket knock off wheels on it currently but comes with the original wheel covers. 22. Car no longer had the tank sticker or build sheet when he acquired the car. 23. Speedometer and tach work. 24. All light bezels were replaced. 25. Weather stripping in a few select locations is getting old and may need your attention. Mainly on hardtop. 26. No headliner in the hardtop. 27. Radio works but power antenna that he installed new, but does not operate. 28. Tachometer "bounces" until you reach a constant cruising speed then it is steady. 29. Float in fuel tank does not work. 30. A/C does not work. All components are present and original, with exception of duct work. 31. Windows roll up and down correctly. 32. Lock out on the reverse does not work. The lever that you pull up to move shifter over into reverse doesn"t work. It still goes into reverse. You just don"t have to pull up on the lever. 33. Emergency brake works. 34. Blinkers work at the lights themselves as well as on the dash cluster. 35. Original seatbelts are present and function correctly. 36. Has original mechanical fuel pump and if the car sits for about 8-12 days, the carb needs to be primed to start. 37. Has new Interstate battery. 38. Car runs out great and shifts great. Very strong vette and an absolute eye catcher and head turner. 39. Rubber shift boot is dry and hard and is cracked around the bottom if it. Cant really tell unless you pull it up the shifter. 40. Comes with an original 1963 Corvette shop manual and an original 1965 Corvette shop manual supplement. Also has a folder full of receipts and work orders for all kinds of items and work done to the car over the years he spent restoring it. Some of them are important and some are just small things like hose clamps and such. But still pretty cool to look through all of them and the dates and progression as he bought items during the years of restoring it.
This Corvette is the real deal. Runs and sounds amazing. Please ask questions. Car is located in Texarkana, Texas and has been here all of the 41 years he has owned it. https:/ drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ZP-9EJQylqwedA-4PM3sERTF8J0dTTu1?usp=sharing double clicking on some of the pics will enlarge it, some of them it won"t. Not sure why that is.
NOTE: The 1965 Texas license plates remain with my dad unless the buyer is a Texas resident. In that case the buyer can have the plates.
