Vehicle description
Cars are original only once. My aim in this Studebaker was to find a 100% solid and honest example keep it as 100% Nebraska original and factory-plain as possible. This one exceeded my expectations. It was new to me last July during the lockdown.
I"ve kept all parts that were removed. Anything NEW to the Lark VI is listed here - otherwise all is 100% original:
590-15 bias pie-crust whitewalls, NOS front drums, front shoes, front brake cyls, master cyl, rear wheel cyls, floor carpets, windlace, oil filter, RF engine mount bracket (on block), front engine mounts (2), rear engine/bellhousing mounts (2), battery, fuel pump delete plate, electric fuel pump and custom bracket, ignition coil, dist cap, spark plugs, ignition cables, all engine gaskets except head-to-block (head remained on), the entire exhaust pipe and muffler system, carb rebuild kit, U-joints and rear OD tail seal, clutch plate, clutch disc and release bearing, and the paint on the outer rim of the wheels, which matches the paint used to paint the grille panel. Custom roof-rack was another fun addition while staying at home. Remove it with two clamps/wingnuts. (The original owner rolled the Lark too far into his garage years ago and dented the hood and grille, passenger side of center. Filled and painted with single-stage enamel, matched to the gas door).
The engine was removed to degrease and paint over the fall and winter of 2020. Factory grease pencil marks on the RF fender liner and rear axle cover were revealed. Properly and carefully resprayed in engine silver, including bellhousing and transmission/OD. Please message me here if you need any rebuild photos.
Trunk is perfect, still in the factory primer. Same thing with the floors. Sprayed in their factory paint and solid!
Lots of neat date codes on the quarter panels, doors, behind the kick panels, etc. This was a late Feb "59 assembly and delivered to Schneider Motors in McCook, NE. Copy of original title registration from Mar "59 comes with the car, along with the invaluable Chassis Parts and Body Parts manuals, the two paper Shop Manuals as well as the original owners manual.Starts and idles so silently and smoothly. Overdrive works great - cut-in speed is ~37 mph.
Also includes the exceptionally rare 9" rear drums + hubs (a $500 value). They will need doing in the years to come but the brand new fronts are doing most of the work anyways. Park brake was lubed and freed but could use further adjustment.
Thanks for looking. I respond within the hour on any Messages.
