“This is a ~56 year old car in driver quality condition. Not responsible if I"ve missed anything.”
Up for auction today is a 1965 Oldsmobile starfire. I have decoded the cars body tag to the best of my ability, and it seems that this car is entirely original, except for the paint. it appears to have been repainted, but in the original color (lucerne mist if i remember correctly). paint looks really nice. For its age and originality, the car is in very nice shape, showing 30,000 (presumably 130,000) miles on the odometer. Though the car is not perfect, the drivers seat has some wear and tear from over the years, but nothing horrible, and that’s about it on the interior. The left rear quarter has a dent in it that could probably be popped out by a paintless dent repair company, but there is no chipped or cracked paint in that spot. that’s really the only issue with the exterior that I can think of/remember. Looking around for rust, all I can find is around the corners of the trunk lid (can send pictures). Other than that the car looks to be pretty rust free from what I can tell. The convertible top works great! It goes up and down as it should along with all the windows and the power seat even works! all exterior lights work, all interior courtesy lights work along with the "warning" lights on the dash, but there is no night time illumination behind the dash, so you cant see the gauges when you"re driving at night. Just installed an old AC Delco factory rebuilt fuel pump and the car starts, runs and drives great and has plenty of power and gets up to highway speeds with ease, but the engine does sound like it has a stuck lifter that isn"t pumping up, i imagine this is because the car has sat the entire time of our ownership (about 3 years) and possibly before our ownership as well. the automatic transmission shifts nicely through all gears driving down the road. It will come with the box and original fuel pump. the car drives down the road nice and straight and the steering components feel pretty tight, there doesn"t seem to be much "slop" in the steering. the 4 wheel power drum brakes work great, the vehicle doesn"t pull to one side or the other while braking and the parking brake works great too. the tire look to have a lot of tread left, though they are date coded 2010, but they didn"t look to be weathered or cracking from what i could see and the car doesn"t shake or vibrate like the tires are out of balance, separating or have flat spots. the car also has a good battery installed. The car has been stored inside the entire time of our ownership.
