Vehicle description
Nice "49 Chevrolet 3600 3/4 ton Long Bed patina truck . These trucks are the hottest body style and decent ones are getting harder to find. This girl"s got a lot of character!
Bought a few years ago, drove it home from the gentleman that hauled it down to North Georgia from North Dakota, backed it into my garage & got to work. For starters it needed a replacement exhaust manifold (cracked and loud) for the 1958-59 replacement 235ci six that ran great. It now has a set of Williams cast iron headers (2 x 3/1), w/ Langdon heat plate upgrade. Added new Weber 32/36 w/manual choke carb with adapter. New water pump, ignition parts, wires, coil, air cleaner. Cleaned up the engine. 12V battery, alternator and starter. Will need a Y-pipe built to tie into existing exhaust.
Typical for the age, ragged old cloth wiring, some bare. .not safe, so truck comes with new full wiring harness set (w/extras for electrical add-ons). 4 speed stock transmission, good clutch, stock rear. Original chrome is there, good condition.
A s truck spent most of its life on a farm in North Dakota, body is pretty straight, good patina in red that was clear coated. It has typical rust issues with inner left fender and driver floorboard (due to water coming in side vent). Lower front & rear door pillars have some rust spots, but hinges and doors mountings are fine, so easy weld in patch. Typical rear cab corner rust, can be fixed with replacement weld in corners once bed is removed. I have new Classic Industries new steel patch panels to fix everything but the rear cab corners. Bed is good, wood bed boards, tailgate works, typical signs from years of use. No rear bumper.
Good tires, brakes. Nice project that needs a little TLC to be a driver. Will need mostly time (which I just don"t have these days) more than money. All sort of receipts for new parts. Truck ran great when parked, and will do so again with your help.
Drive it as it is or build the restomod truck of your dreams (plenty of room for a big LS motor).
