1979 Toyota SR5 4x4 Short Box (SWB). I purchased this truck form the original owner. This is a low mile collector grade unrestored survivor. 115k original miles. Exceptional original condition. Numbers matching 20R motor with mild performance/reliability upgrades, four speed manual transmission, and 2 speed transfer case.
Factory options include: short bed, SR5 trim package, A/C, power steering, power front disc brakes, wall to wall carpeting, tilt wheel, bench seat, AM/FM radio, optional Toyota cassette player, full instrument cluster including; tachometer, auxiliary oil pressure, and amp meter.
Always garaged kept and gently used over the years. Very hard to find in this condition. Runs, drives, and looks like a new truck.
PAINT/BODY- Cosmetically this truck is exceptional survivor in excellent original condition. Original paint. C olor matched heavy duty spray in bed liner. Arrow strait body. The truck is 100% rust free and has never has had any rust. The trucks exceptional original condition is a testament of years of always being well cared for, garage kept, and regular routine maintenance/repairs. The underside and undercarriage are immaculate (please see pictures). Always garage kept by both myself, and the original owner.
ENGINE/TRANSMISSION- 20R, four speed manual transmission, 2 speed transfer case (original motor and transmission). Stock motor with the exception of mild performance, reliability, and efficiency upgrades including; Weber carburetor, K&N air filter, Offenhauser aluminum intake, thick flange header, and electronic fuel pump. New exhaust system, muffler, b attery, radiator, alternator, belts, radiator hoses, fuel lines, vacuum lines, remanufactured distributor, . The engine and engine bay are pristine. This truck has always been meticulously maintained since new. A full tune up was recently done including; fuel filter, plug wires, cap, rotor, spark plugs, oil change, transmission service, front/rear differential service, and transfer case service. No leaks. These first generation Toyota"s are built to last. The motor runs like a watch, the transmission shifts perfectly. The four wheel drive systems works flawlessly. The steering is tight, the brakes are excellent. Extremely reliable.
INTERIOR- The interior is in exceptional condition and is original with the exceptional of new front seat upholstery. The headliner, carpet, and door panels are in excellent condition. The heater, all electrical components, interior lights, ect., all work great. The original radio works good as does the hard to find optional Toyota cassette player. This is a factory A/C truck, however the A/C compressor was removed by the original owner.
OTHER NOTABLES- New 265/75/15 Good Year Wrangler tires, chrome wheels, alignment, front shocks, rear shocks, and steering stabilizer shock. Original manual, tool kit, and jack.
These Toyota"s have legendary reliability and superb engineering. It is getting very hard to find original survivors in this condition. When is the last time you have seen a SR5 SWB Toyota 4x4 in this kind of original condition? I searched high and low for years before I found this truck. This has been a great truck for me over the years and is a absolute pleasure to drive. Pride of ownership shows throughout! One of the cleanest original survivors out there! Clean and clear Washington State title in my name.
