Vehicle description
Vehicle Details Read everything before placing a bid, Thanks. . .The Good: I am the second owner and this SUV has been my daily driver for the last 5 years. It has never let me down, these 4.0L pushrod engines are fords best engines ever made IMO. AC is ice Cold, drive this thing across the country right now without issue as the transmission shifts perfectly and the car drives great. For a 21 year old vehicle this thing is ultra clean. It looks in better condition than many SUV's half it's age IMO. No accidents, original paint still shines and the interior is so clean you will think its only 5 years old. I am an ASE certified Mechanic with my own shop so I have done everything this thing has needed over the years, and I'm only selling because I got a great deal on an F-150 I've always wanted. Since I've owned the explorer, I have replaced the Radiator (3 months ago) front and rear brake pads (motorcraft brand 6 months ago) motorcraft spark plugs, Head Gaskets at 190k along with a dozen other gaskets during that same job. I've done front and rear shocks (5 total, yes it has 5 shocks) synthetic oil changes every 5 thousand miles, trans fluid service, AC receiver dryer and fan/blower, Nice tow hitch with wiring, (although I have never towed with it) original purchase window sticker and manuals are in the glove box as well as the original rear cargo cover. Really a great example of a well optioned explorer. Cruise control still works even though the rubber button covers on the steering wheel are gone. Car has no dash warning lights or check engine lights and will pas CA smog no problem, and the best part, I just renewed the tags till April of 2022. Like I said, I had no plans on selling. The not so good: I'm going to do my best to note any flaws as I would want noted if I were to buy the car. After the head gasket job there was a noteable exhaust leak near the #4 cylinder, a sort of muted puffing and only heard on acceleration. I have not taken time to see if it is coming from the exhaust manifold or from the head gasket, but liklely not a huge deal, but def should be noted and resolved if it bothers you. Feel free to come test drive it to see if it is a big deal to you or not. It doesn't seem to affect drivability but it does seem to cause a random misfire at idle. Misfire goes away as soon as you accelerate. Again not a huge deal but def needs to be noted. Other issues are minor such as cracked original windshield, matching firestone tire tread is about 10% back and 30% front and should probably be replaced in the next 10k miles or so. All the gauges work, but every so often the tachometer stops working. Its super common on these and doesn't affect anything. But like I said, I want to be 100% transparent. Remember this is a 21 year old vehicle and there is bound to be some fluid leaks underneath, but nothing major. Between 5000 mile oil change, this thing burns less than 1/2 quart of oil. Thats better than many new cars. Lastly, there is some clear coat peeling on the top of the passenger front fender. This looks to be the only noteable paint flaw besides very small door chips/dings/scratches normal to a 21 year old car, but overall this doesn't distract from the overall good appearance of the car. Feel free to contact me for a test drive, and please only bid if you have the cash and are ready to pay right away. $100 deposit via paypal due within 24 hours and the rest in cash or bank check on pickup. Clean CA title in my name in hand ready to go as well as the 2 original keys and remotes. Pickup will be in El Segundo zip 90245 and I can help with your shipper if the car needs to be shipped out of state. Images Download the Motors app
